This role is ideal for candidates who are ambitious, experienced leading a team, and who would like to define engineering strategy for a studio working on a wide variety of AAA games.

Responsibilities

  • Identify solutions to difficult engineering challenges covering a wide range of areas such as low-level programming, gameplay, rendering, networking, tools, automation, UI and more.

  • Research cutting-edge technologies for application within the games industry.
  • Establish strong coding standards and practices across the engineering team.
  • Share knowledge across technical teams.
  • Identify training needs and potential talent within teams.
  • Report project risks in a timely manner, propose mitigations, and escalate risks when needed.
  • Work on proposals to acquire new projects.

Team Management

  • Demonstrate good leadership, charisma, enthusiasm and sense of commitment.
  • Work well with other disciplines and other teams in external locations.
  • Manage the performance of the engineering team staff and manage direct reports.
  • Ensure lead engineers define clear and challenging objectives to their team members.
  • Embody the Virtuos values of trust, positivity, and excellence.

Knowledge Sharing

  • Identify and apply technical best practices within the studio.
  • Facilitate and share technical knowledge and code between projects.
  • Collaborate with other Virtuos studios to share information on the latest technologies and how they can be adopted at an organizational level

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in the games industry.
  • At least 8 years programming experience.
  • Recent experience in console development with at least one shipped title.
  • Expert knowledge in one or more major functional areas of game development, such as gameplay, UI, rendering, engine systems, tools and pipelines, and backend.
  • Minimum of 3 years working with a triple A game engine.
  • A good knowledge of programming languages and software engineering practices.
  • Exceptional management and communication skills.

Please Note:
