Project description

As a SQL Server Database Developer, you will play a key role in building and optimizing database systems based on SQL Server. You will collaborate with developers, data analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data integrity, performance, and security, as well as provide efficient database solutions that align with business needs.

Responsibilities

Database Development: Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support application development.

Query Optimization: Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries for performance, ensuring efficient data retrieval and manipulation.

Data Modeling: Design logical and physical data models, and create efficient database schemas to meet business requirements.

Data Integration: Develop ETL processes to import, export, and transform data between systems using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or other data integration tools.

Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize database performance, including indexing, query tuning, and database configuration for optimal performance.

Database Maintenance: Perform database management tasks, including backups, restores, index maintenance, and database monitoring.

Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and develop database solutions that meet business needs.

Troubleshooting & Debugging: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues such as performance bottlenecks, query inefficiencies, and data inconsistencies.

Security & Compliance: Ensure database security, manage user permissions, and implement encryption and other security measures to protect sensitive data.

Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for database schemas, processes, and procedures.

Skills

Must have

7+ years of experience in SQL Server Database Development.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proficiency in T-SQL, with the ability to write and optimize complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers.

Experience with SQL Server 2016/2019 or later versions.

Strong understanding of database design, normalization, and data modeling.

Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for ETL processes.

Proficiency in performance tuning, including query optimization and indexing strategies.

Experience in database security, including role-based permissions and data encryption.

Familiarity with database backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.

Experience with version control systems like Git for managing database scripts.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

Experience with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services).

Knowledge of cloud-based SQL Server (Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS for SQL Server) and related technologies.

Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for database automation.

Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile development environment.

Experience with DevOps tools for database CI/CD automation.
