Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer in Google Search, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions for Google's search engine. You will work on a variety of projects that are critical to the company's success, including expanding Google's infrastructure, improving the user experience, and developing new features. You will also be involved in design reviews, code reviews, and issue resolution. You will be expected to be able to manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and to communicate effectively with other engineers and stakeholders. Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with software development
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture
  • 3 years of experience with front-end frameworks, full-stack development, or API development
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role
  • Experience developing accessible technologies

  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
