Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft Defender for Cloud, you'll contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of tools ensuring efficient operations and accelerating developer experience. You'll collaborate with various Microsoft teams to deliver customer solutions and supporting technologies. This role involves the entire service lifecycle, from inception to refinement, including analyzing system behavior, performance, and resolving application issues. You will apply modern software engineering practices to streamline deployments, reduce costs, and meet reliability and availability KPIs. You'll also guide engineering teams on integration, testing, monitoring, and security across diverse tech stacks.
Must have:
  • 6+ years experience in software engineering
  • Proficiency in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • Experience building and developing services
  • Experience with large-scale operations and metrics collection
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • 6+ years Linux system experience
  • Experience with Azure/AWS/GCP

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python 
  • 7+ years experience with designing. building and developing services, supportability and monitoring Infrastructures    
  • Experience with large scale operations, using methodologies such as feedback/Metrics collection techniques to expose live site/service issues 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving and organizational skills   
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills   
  • Leadership skills: Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiating and decision-making skills.  
  • Ability to deal with the ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced and changing environment.    

Additional or Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 6+ years of Linux hands on system experiences  
  • 6+ years of Software Engineering and experience in testing, deploying and supporting large scale services on Azure/AWS/GCP environments.    
  • Kubernetes, Prometheus, Cilium /ISTIO or any equivalent

  • You will be part of an infrastructure software engineering team collaboratively designs, builds, and maintains tools that ensure seamless and efficient operations for the organizations which accelerate the developer experience.
  • You will collaborate closely with multiple teams across Microsoft to deliver key customer solutions and the technology to support them.    
  • Engage in and improveend-to-endlifecycle of services frominceptionand design, through deployment, operation, and refinement.    
  • Analyze complex system behavior, performance, and application issues.   
  • Applymodernsoftwareengineering practices tostreamlinedeployments,drive downcostsandoperationaloverheadwhilemeetingcritical reliability andavailabilityKPIs.
