Job Description

Support an iconic Australian brand in modernizing core trading and clearing platforms using AWS, Java Spring Boot, Kubernetes, and Kafka. Responsibilities include test design based on functional and non-functional specifications, manual and automated testing across multiple phases (System, E2E, UAT), ensuring traceability to requirements, collaborating in work reviews, interpreting complex test scripts, analyzing results, maintaining a defect register, reporting on system quality and metrics, supporting Software Testing Policy and Guidelines, coordinating with internal/external participants, escalating risks, assisting in test planning, and actively participating in the QE&T Community of Practice. The role involves working in an Agile environment and delivering projects to completion.

Must have:

5+ years in software testing
Financial markets/BFS domain knowledge
Capital Markets experience
System & Integration testing
Test case writing (System, E2E, UAT)
Test Strategy/Plan/Summary writing
Test design based on technical analysis
UI and API testing
SQL queries for database validation
Agile team experience

Good to have:

Knowledge of financial markets, products, and transaction lifecycles
Cucumber or Specflow
Finance/exchange systems knowledge
Non-functional testing (performance, load)
Messaging protocols (FpML, SWIFT, FIX)
Test automation experience
Continuous improvement mindset

Project description

Support an iconic Australian brand as they seek to replace and modernise core trading and clearing platforms.
You will be working on the latest technologies (AWS, Java Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Kafka) in a greenfield project building out new digital experiences and core trading capability for this major financial institution.

Responsibilities

You are a practitioner/team member of the Quality Engineering & Testing Capability Community of Practice (CoP).

Test design, using own in-depth technical analysis of functional and non-functional specifications, requirements and solution architecture.

Hands on manual testing the application across multiple phases of testing.

Execution, investigation and maintenance of existing automated test cases.

Design & execute robust test scenarios/test cases in line with wider business transformation strategy and planning.

Ensure traceability records exist from tests back to requirements & documentation.

Follow/Apply agreed standards and tools, to achieve well-engineered outcomes.

Collaborate in reviews of work with other team members.

Interpreting and executing complex test scripts, analysing results and maintaining a defect register.

Provide reports on progress, anomalies and risks & issues associated with assigned tasks. You'll also report on system quality and collect metrics on tests and results.

Support and implement Software Testing Policy and Guidelines within the context of the assigned work and tools used and create and maintain documentation relevant to this.

Coordinate with internal and external participants/vendors to carry out different phases of testing ex. UAT, E2E etc.

Escalate risks and issues in a timely manner within existing risk frameworks.

Assist the Test Manager in test planning and specifying requirements for test environments, test data and tools.

Being an active member of, the QE&T Community of Practice (CoP).

Skills

Must have

5+ years in software testing.

Knowledge of Financial markets/BFS Domain

Working experience in Capital Markets domain

Worked in an environment with a structured test process, performing System and System Integration testing.

Experience in writing Test cases for different phases of testing like System Testing, E2E Testing, UAT testing etc.

Experience in contributing/writing Test Strategy, Test plan, Test summary etc.

Proven experience in test design based on in-depth technical and requirements analysis.

Had exposure to testing at the UI and the API level.

Experience in writing SQL queries to validate database results & writing and have basic to Mid database skills.

Worked as part of an agile, cross-functional team.

Ability to work & solve problems independently and working across multiple projects.

Delivery focussed demonstrated track record of seeing projects through to completion, whatever challenges arise.

Strong communication & collaboration skills, both written and verbal.

Attention to detail.

Exposure to status reporting ex. Create reports on system quality and collect metrics on test cases.

Demonstrate ongoing commitment to participation in professional development as per organisational policy & procedure.

Experience using Atlassian tools like JIRA, confluence, bit bucket etc. to create test artefacts.

Nice to have

Knowledge of Financial markets including products and transaction lifecycles.

Exposure to any of the tools like Cucumber or Specflow.

Knowledge on Finance / exchange systems knowledge of cash equity markets post trade processes (clearing, settlement) and systems highly regarded.

Exposure to non-functional testing, such as performance and load testing.

Knowledge of messaging protocols, such as FpML, SWIFT or FIX.

Exposure to automation ex. Running the test scripts or contributing to Test automation framework.
