Job Description

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), you'll play a crucial role in delivering core infrastructure for services like Bing, Office 365, Azure, etc. You'll work with commissioning teams, ensuring proper testing and validation of electrical systems in large-scale, mission-critical datacenters across a global campus. Responsibilities include acting as a technical authority for on-site operations, establishing maintenance and safety procedures for highly redundant electrical designs, and supporting 24/7 operations. This role demands strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. You will also be responsible for managing electrical infrastructure in data center campuses ranging from large capacity facilities to several smaller ones.
Must have:
  • 8+ years experience OR Bachelor's degree + 5 years OR Master's + 3 years
  • Business-level Korean and English

Overview

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Senior Electrical Engineer, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience
  • Business level Korean and English

Background Check Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • A strong desire and capability to learn, grow, and develop new skills 
  • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspect of data center activities  
  • Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems. 
  • Understand the design and functionality of your datacenter  
  • Support 24x7x365 on-site datacenters operations and electrical infrastructure  
  • Act as the technical authority for on-site operations related to a large-scale mission critical electrical system, design, and functionality 
  • Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures, maintaining highly redundant electrical designs  
  • Managing the electrical infrastructures throughout datacenter campus ranging from a single large capacity facility, to several smaller ones
