Senior Designer

What will you work on?
 

The Senior Designer works closely with the Director, Brand Design on new brand initiatives and collaborates with Sr. Creative and Brand management to set creative strategy on key brands and individual items in the Early Learning category.

The Senior Designer role is primarily execution focused with new brand concepts and other brand extensions. This role will support the Early Learning category by providing line extensions to new brands and is the main point person for those particular brands. The Senior Designer is responsible for package design through production on 2 or 3 core brands 70% of the time and works on other brands and / or new brand concepts 30% of the time

How will you create impact?

• Working under the art direction of the Director, Brand Design, you will create branding and packaging design concepts that support brand strategies.
• Work with production team to ensure integrity of design in final deliverables.
• Effectively communicate all project related progress/issues or concerns to the Director, Brand Design and Project Management in a timely and professional manner.
• Solicit creative direction from key team members on the product development team and marketing team in a timely manner.
• Develop marketing support materials, creative boards and layout presentations for new and existing business development presentations
• Develop digital marketing assets where required.
• Collaborate with Production, Structural Engineering, Marketing, Quality Control and Product Development teams as well as overseas agents, as necessary, in the package development and approval process.
• With support from the photo studio team, direct and manage photoshoots when needed for packaging development
• Manage 1-2 freelance designers

What are your skills and experience?

• Consumer products industry; toy package design preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat.
• Working knowledge of 3D, Keyshot, and Esko Software a BIG plus
• Soft aesthetic that aligns with Early Learning baby/preschool brand
• Ideally someone with experience in the Early Learning category, even if that is simply personal experience over professional experience
• Enthusiastic designer with a strong appetite for co-creating brands and sharing the opinions with a diverse group of cross-functional creatives.
