Job Description

The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will provide exceptional technical guidance to customers adopting Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services. Responsibilities include designing and implementing cloud-based architectures, migration approaches, and application optimizations. The role requires troubleshooting technical issues, creating best practice recommendations, and delivering tutorials and sample code. Fluency in both English and Japanese is essential for this customer-facing role, involving interactions with local and international stakeholders. Up to 30% travel is expected for meetings and onsite delivery. The engineer will work closely with Product Management and Product Engineering to improve Google Cloud products and features, providing domain expertise in cloud platforms and infrastructure to solve complex issues.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent
5+ years automating infrastructure
Experience designing cloud solutions
Coding skills (Python, Java, Go, C/C++)
Fluent English and Japanese
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Good to have:

GCP experience (prompt engineering, etc.)
Experience building prototypes/applications
GKE knowledge
IT security knowledge

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience automating infrastructure provisioning, Networking, DevOps, or continuous integration/delivery.
Experience designing cloud enterprise solutions and supporting customer projects to completion.
Experience coding in one or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C or C++) including data structures, algorithms, and software design.
Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently as this is a customer-facing role that requires interactions in Japanese and English with local and international stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with GCP techniques such as prompt engineering, dual encoders, and embedding vectors.
Experience building prototypes or applications.
Knowledge of containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
Familiarity with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate and key management.

Responsibilities

Provide domain expertise in cloud platforms and infrastructure solving complex cloud platform issues.
Work with customers to design and implement cloud based technical architectures, migration approaches, and application optimizations that enable business objectives.
Be a technical advisor and perform troubleshooting to resolve technical issues for customers.
Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, and sample code.
Travel up to 30% of the time in the region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities as needed.
