We are searching for a Principal Backend Java Engineer with a strong background in large-scale distributed systems. You will be working on one of the largest distributed systems in the world, running on thousands of machines and handling petabytes of data. You will be developing infrastructure and solving technical challenges in areas like distributed computing frameworks, data structures, and algorithms. You will be designing and implementing next generation services. Our customer is transitioning from data centers to Public cloud infrastructure, and you will work on a complete Java stack serving hundreds of billions of transactions daily. Key responsibilities include developing scalable and innovative robust Java code for content aggregation and information indexing, retrieval, processing, and ranking. You will build, enhance, optimize, and deploy tools, workflows, and systems to process textual data for relevant information extraction. Collaboration with team members and stakeholders is crucial to ensure clear understanding of technical requirements and project goals. You will write detailed design documents, develop comprehensive automated tests, and coordinate automated deployments.
Must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- Minimum of 10+ years developing applications in core Java
- In-depth knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and systems
- E2E software development lifecycle experience
- Experience working within a GCP environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Operability experience (logging, monitoring, alerting, debugging)
- Containerization knowledge (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience with DevOps CI/CD, build tools – maven/gradle
Good to have:
- Master’s degree in computer science or related field
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform)
- Experience with GCP
- Experience with Cassandra or Spanner

Key Responsibilities
- Develop scalable and innovative robust Java code for content aggregation as well as for information indexing, retrieval, processing, and ranking.
- Build, enhance, optimize, and deploy tools, workflows, systems to process textual data for extraction of relevant information.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of technical requirements and project goals.
- Write detailed design documents, develop comprehensive automated tests, and coordinate automated deployments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field of study. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years developing applications in core Java.
- In-depth knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and systems.

- Must have experience working within a GCP environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the English language.

· The anticipated starting pay range for Colorado is: $161,000 - $236,060.
· The anticipated starting pay range for the states of Hawaii and New York (not including NYC) is: $171,400 - $251,350.
· The anticipated starting pay range for California, New York City and Washington is: $187,500 - $275,000.
Unless already included in the posted pay range and based on eligibility, the role may include variable compensation in the form of bonus, commissions, or other discretionary payments. These discretionary payments are based on company and/or individual performance and may change at any time. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
