The Line Cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing food according to the executive chef's specifications. Duties include setting up kitchen stations, preparing ingredients, portioning food, ensuring optimal station operation, and assisting the chef and sous chef with daily tasks. This role requires working in a studio setting, potentially in Santa Monica and Hollywood, with variable shifts, including evenings and weekends. Responsibilities include preparing food using various cooking methods, portioning according to standards, working with servers to ensure timely order completion, maintaining sufficient food product levels, upholding sanitary workstations, adhering to food safety regulations, assisting in food preparation during off-peak times, and ensuring product quality. The ideal candidate has proven cooking experience and understands various cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment.

Position: Line Cook
Location: Hollywood, CA (Onsite)

*Pay Range: $18.00 - $20.00 USD hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:
The line cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently prepare food to the executive chef’s specifications and is responsible for setting each kitchen station for the day’s menu. Line Cook duties also include assisting the execute chef and sous chef with their daily tasks which may include but are not limited to prepare ingredients, portioning food for plating, and make sure each station operates at optimum levels.
This position and will require working in studio on a regular basis. You may be required to travel and work out of our studios in Santa Monica and Hollywood. This position requires working variable shifts, including overtime, evenings, and weekends, as necessary per business needs.

MAIN DUTIES:
The line cook will prepare items for boiling, grilling, frying, sauteing, or other type of cooking method by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning, and/or making sure the item is fully marinated. They will portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion size determined by executive chef. The line cook will also be responsible for the following:
  • Work with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at each line station to assure smooth service.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstations areas including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection ovens, flat top ranges, and refrigerators.
  • Ensuring kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
  • Handles, stores, and rotates items according to applicable standards.
  • Assists in food preparation assignation during off-peak as needed.
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of all products served.
  • Handle special projects as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have proven cooking experience, including experience as a Line Chef, Restaurant Cook or Prep Cook, and understand various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Additional desired skills include:
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices.
  • Strong process and attention to detail.
  • Culinary school education is a plus.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment; and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Great interpersonal skills, meticulous, organized and able to work calmly and professionally especially during high pressure situations.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and communicating effectively with others.
