The ideal candidate possesses 7+ years of professional game engineering experience with shipped AAA titles, strong C/C++ skills, and a deep understanding of UI systems and 3D math.

Position available in Warsaw, Poland or Malmö, Sweden (On-Site Hybrid)

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Lead UI Engineer to join the development of a new IP.   
 

Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining! 
 
As a foundational member of the UI team, you’ll be driving UI technology and realization of our brand new, narrative, open-world game and IP 

 

You’ll help us by 

  • Taking the ownership of the UI system, driving its implementation to deliver a best-in-class AAA experience for our players. 

  • Supporting gameplay designers in achieving an interesting and thematically appropriate realization of UI of the game.  

  • Anticipating, identifying, and addressing potentials both for improving our game experience, workflows, or scalability across all parts of production. 

  • Having a clear idea of how our product should function and the ability to share this vision with your peers and other stakeholders.  

  • Mentoring and collaborating with fellow team members of the team.  

 

You’re awesome because you have 

  • 7+ years of professional game engineering experience. 

  • Fully implemented and maintained UI systems in a shipped AAA title. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage your own work and to meet deadlines. 

  • Experience with writing fast, easy-to-use UI systems that interface with existing gameplay systems. 

  • Strong knowledge of C/C++ programming including advanced topics such as multi-threading, atomics, optimizations, and similar. 

  • Knowledge of 3D math. 

  • Thorough understanding of common data structures and algorithmic solutions.  

  • The ability to collaborate and thrive as part of a creative team. 

  • Creativity in problem solving and a positive, respectful team-first attitude. 

  • Comfort with self-critique and accepting outside feedback. 

  • A habit of regularly playing and understanding modern video games 

 

Bonus points for 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and to coordinate work with other domains. 

  • Experience with scaling UI to work on different devices and screen sizes 

  • Experience with diegetic UI and trade-offs compared to more traditional UI approaches. 

  • Experience with 1st person vs 3rd UI considerations. 

  • Understanding challenges of developing a multiplayer game. 

  • Expertise in any of popular UI middle-ware/libraries: CoherentUI, Scaleform, NoesisGUI, UMG. 

  • Enjoyment of playing a variety of video game genres and titles.
