We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health and Safety specialist to join our team in the Netherlands. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Health and Safety for the Fluence office in Amsterdam and for all projects in the BeNelux area to ensure the highest standards are maintained across our operations. Key responsibilities include acting as a health and safety officer (preventiemedewerker), focusing on day-to-day health and safety issues within our company, developing and implementing Health and Safety procedures, conducting inspections and audits, identifying areas for improvement, and providing guidance and training to team members.
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proven track record of implementing effective Health and Safety control measures in a manufacturing or production environment. Your tasks and responsibilities:
Act as a health and safety officer according to Dutch regulations (preventiemedewerker) and focusing on day-to-day health and safety issues within a company;
Carry out and formalize the mandatory risk inventory and evaluation (RI&E) for all Fluence’s activities in the Netherlands, as per Dutch regulations;
Advise, consult, and cooperate with the company doctor and the works council or staff representation regarding working conditions;
Support the Sales department in all pre-qualification processes;
Act as a Health and Safety Project specialist and ensure Health and Safety Planning activities are properly performed on-time according to the development of projects’ timelines;
Periodic visits to Fluence’s project sites;
Participate / lead onsite supplier and subcontractor audits – you will lead the audits for new or potential suppliers and subcontractors
Assist in building supplier and subcontractor Health and Safety programs and policies.
Conduct thorough inspections and testing of products and materials at various stages of production to ensure compliance with the Health and Safety standards and specifications.
Identify and report any non-conformities or deviations (NCR) from Health and Safety requirements, investigate root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future recurrence.
Assist in the development and implementation of Health and Safety control procedures, work instructions, and documentations to support continuous improvement efforts.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address Health and Safety issues, provide technical support, and participate in problem-solving activities to drive resolution and improvement.
Your profile
A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field such as engineering, Health and Safety management, or a related discipline.
Previous training as health and safety officer accordingly Dutch regulation (preventiemedewerker)
Previous experience in Health and Safety control or assurance roles within manufacturing, engineering, or a related industry (minimum 10 years). Experience with Health and Safety management systems (QMS) and Health and Safety control methodologies is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of Health and Safety control techniques, tools, and methodologies, including statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
Familiarity with Health and Safety management standards such as ISO 45001 is advantageous.
Fluent in English and Dutch language. German or other European languages are a plus.
Proficient in MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Possess a valid residency in European Union.
Possess a valid driving license.
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and carefully.
Availability to travel 50% of the time in the Netherlands and adjacent countries (Belgium, Luxemburg Germany, UK)
