Our Romero Games QA team is looking for the next generation of QA Testers.  You will be new to the industry, but you’ll have a passion for games, an eye for detail and plenty of time spent playing a variety of First Person Shooters.

Romero Games QA is an integral part of the development team, so this role is based onsite in our Galway studio. A relocation package is available.

What you will do:

  • Learn the craft of QA!

    • Work with your fellow QA team members and dev team colleagues to understand what QA is, how it fits within the development process

    • Learn to use tools like JIRA to carry out tests, file bugs, regress fixes

    • Learn basic testing techniques, starting with scripted checks and progressing to destructive and exploratory testing

    • Learn our in-house tools for build delivery and deployment

    • Learn to playtest and provide detailed qualitative feedback

    • Learn to create and share reports

What you need to have:

  • A passion for games and gaming

  • Plenty of experience playing a variety of FPS games 

  • Good attention to detail

  • An ability to communicate clearly, concisely and diplomatically

  • A curious mind that wants to understand how a game works

  • Experience with both PC and Console platforms

  • Familiarity with PC productivity software such as Microsoft Office tools, wikis etc.

What is nice to have:

  • Previous experience of QA e.g. student projects, volunteer QA on indie games etc. 

  • Some understanding of SCRUM/Agile software development methodologies

  • Technical experience with markup, query and scripting languages 

  • Understanding of the game development process in terms of the different teams involved and their roles
