JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the Area Head of Operations and Vendors to set the strategic direction for the Vendor Management team in the Mekong Area (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia & Myanmar). Managing the performance of vendors to ensure on-time delivery, capacity and split of volumes is safeguarded as well as ad-hoc capacity is secured. Structure, staff and manage the Area Vendor Management team to run the delivery business efficiently in accordance with defined product commitments. Lead the vendor management team on Maersk’s transformation journey through the adoption of new ways of working with an emphasis on digital-driven habits.
1/ Drive Vendor Management functional outcomes:
Set and lead the team through clearly defined annual targets rooted in objectives balancing quality, cost and consistency
Monitor service quality of vendors across customers and modes (e.g. Truck, Rail, Barge) and act on non-compliance to defined product or customer standards
Ensure vendor management provides speedy issue resolution with CX & Operations teams through case management.
Work with internal stakeholders to fine-tune all facets of running Area Vendor management: Safety & Resilience (HSSE), Control (Finance), Cost (Procurement), Product Standardization (Product / Sales), and Process Efficiency (CI)
2/ Develop and sustain a capable Vendor Management team:
Build a team with a strong orientation toward delivering superior customer outcomes through efficient high-quality delivery networks
Attract and develop talent capable of collaborating and working in a matrix environment with multiple dotted lines
Ensure the team is equipped to operate in line with global policies, safety standards and local regulations (incl. training, coaching, and development)
Manage performance across the products in scope and ensure goals and targets are met
Develop and maintain business continuity plans for processes deemed critical to customer delivery
Create an environment for colleagues to grow and thrive, through empowerment, engagement & trust
3/ Drive Cost to Serve focus:
Work consistently to reduce cost to serve to remain competitive on both quality and cost in changing market conditions
Manage vendors according to demand
Actively monitor and manage volume trajectory of customer base; work with CX and Sales to reduce churn and expedite new and additional business conversion
Constantly feed timely market and customer information back to the Organization
4/ Accountable For:
Vendor onboarding (processes and systems)
Building partnerships & innovation with vendors
Overall vendor management outcomes in the Country & Area
Ensure vendor management capabilities are in place
Vendor compliance with SLA and volume distribution
All cost and quality outcomes within Vendor Management
Drive standardization initiatives in Area Delivery, and provide input on gaps in platforms, processes, automation etc.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
Have at least 10 years of experience in Vendor or Procurement Management. Candidates who have logistics or supply chain management experience will have an advantage.
A strong understanding and knowledge of the Mekong logistics market is a plus.
Have strong conflict management and negotiation skills.
Have an Entrepreneurial mindset to quickly convert difficulties into business opportunities.
Ability to lead and influence people, including senior leaders.
Ability to operate successfully in a complex environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders across several levels.
Ability to prepare and execute a business plan to run a large operation with variable demands.
Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment.
