Job Description

As a Test Engineer at YouTube (Google), you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of YouTube products. Unlike traditional testing roles, you'll focus on automating tests and developing tools to empower developers in testing their code. You'll navigate Google's massive codebase, identify weaknesses, and design innovative ways to break software to find potential problems. Your responsibilities include developing scalable automated tests across platforms, defining and developing infrastructure for automation, improving QA processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, building custom dashboards, and working on large-scale engineering efforts. This role requires expertise in automation methodologies, scripting languages (Python, Java, C/C++), and experience building developer tools. You'll work on large-scale consumer YouTube products, contributing directly to the quality and reliability of globally used services.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
3+ years experience in automated testing and test suite automation
Experience with test automation methodologies (webdriver, earl grey, espresso)
Experience with integration, infrastructure, and tools development
Develop scalable and reliable automated tests for YouTube products

Good to have:

Experience designing and developing robust automation frameworks
2+ years experience building developer tools
Understanding of continuous integration and test-driven development

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
3 years of experience developing automated test and test suite automation using object oriented scripting languages (Python, Java, C/C++, etc.)
Experience with test automation methodologies like webdriver, earl grey, espresso on all platforms.
Experience with integration, infrastructure, and tools development.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience designing and developing robust and scalable automation frameworks using industry best practices.
2 years of experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
Understanding of continuous integration and test driven development.

Responsibilities

Develop scalable and reliable automated tests for testing YouTube products on all platforms.
Define and develop infrastructure to improve automation and developer velocity Drive to improve software Quality assurance (QA) processes and methodologies.
Work with cross-functional teams and strive to come up with optimal and creative solutions.
Work in conjunction with a well reviewed, growing, and supportive team on large cross-team engineering efforts.
Build custom dashboards and metrics to provide signals on quality trends.
