Sr. Public Relations Manager                                                                                                         

San Mateo, CA

*This role will require a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of one day per week on-site and additional in-office days as needed. We aim to provide flexibility while ensuring the support and collaboration essential to our team’s success.

The SIE Global Communications team is looking for a dedicated, results-driven Public Relations (PR) professional to drive PR strategy and execution for PlayStation hardware platforms and network services, while shaping a positive narrative for the overall PlayStation brand. Based in our Global HQ in San Mateo, you will play a central role in communicating the company’s innovation story across gaming and entertainment.

The Senior PR Manager will work across our hardware and network portfolio, including our console business, hardware accessories and network services, as well as key brand initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strategic, creative, and, most importantly, a collaborative individual who can develop and lead groundbreaking PR programs and campaigns that deliver impactful media coverage results on a global basis.

You are a strong writer, diligent and experienced fostering relationships with media and other influencers. Expertise with leading product launches, review programs, events, and other PR-related tactics is required.

You are a confident and composed story-teller who demonstrates both critical thinking and creativity, while staying on top of trends in gaming, digital entertainment and technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive PR plans and manage key tactics, such as media outreach, messaging development, event coordination, speaking opportunities, and coverage reporting.
  • Foster and expand relationships with key media to secure compelling coverage, with a particular focus on consumer and mainstream media outlets.
  • Work across a global organization to create integrated communications campaigns in partnership with key stakeholders, including counterparts in Marketing, Product, and Partner Relations.
  • Manage up and report back to supervisor and Communications Leadership team as appropriate on key areas, including strategic plans, project status, internal challenges, product updates, and issues.
  • Offer strategic counsel to product stakeholders and handle crisis communications as needed.
  • Leverage best-in-class tools and processes to foster new ideas and devise solutions to department-wide improvements as needed.
  • Lead and contribute to broader Communications department initiatives and general media programs.

Qualifications:

  • The desired candidate will possess at least 10+ years of Public Relations experience working directly with media and representing consumer and/or tech brands.
  • Experience managing projects and the ability to work collaboratively with others across a large global organization.
  • Highly skilled at building relationships with traditional media and content creators.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Consistent track record of developing and executing creative and strategic PR plans, securing coverage, and leveraging social media channels.
  • Keen interest in video games and knowledge of the gaming industry would be a plus.
  • Agency experience preferred.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$183,200 - $274,800 USD
