Job Description

Google is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the development and improvement of Pixel phone camera systems. Responsibilities include developing new and existing algorithms and systems to enhance camera performance, creating innovative systems to accelerate integration and debugging processes, delivering solutions across various teams and platforms, and improving cross-team collaboration and user experience. The role requires working with multiple teams across different locations and focuses on building a robust and stable mobile camera system with superior image and video quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong software development skills, experience with camera systems, and a collaborative work ethic.
Must have:
  • 1+ years software development experience (C++)
  • Experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Develop and improve camera algorithms/systems
  • Deliver solutions across teams and devices
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Experience with multi-camera system design, debugging, and parallel design
  • Knowledge of color science, UI design, image/video processing algorithms, GPU/Halide accelerators, and camera hardware
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++).
  • 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with design, debugging, performance and parallel design of the multiple-cameras system.
  • Knowledge of camera system design, including color science, UI design, algorithms in image/video processing, accelerator with GPU/Halide and well-understanding of camera hardware and its process.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

We keep proposing new algorithms and system-wise architecture to make the best image and video quality in the world. Besides, we also work with many teams to contribute our achievement if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve the new/existing algorithms/systems to make the camera system better.
  • Develop innovative systems to improve and accelerate the flow of integration, development, debug and all the tasks related to the camera.
  • Deliver solutions to the camera system across different teams, platforms and devices, to speed up their works. Improve cross-engineer, cross-teamwork and user experiences.
  • Work with several teams across multiple sites.
