Job Description

As a Software Engineer on YouTube's ContentID team, you'll develop systems enhancing our video content matching system. This ensures YouTube's media partners and creators maintain control over their content and personal attributes, often mandated by law. Responsibilities include solving problems like developing tools to quickly identify and flag concerning videos for partners, and taking end-to-end ownership of ambiguous challenges (e.g., reducing claim review volume without impacting precision). You will work on improving the systems that help YouTube manage copyright and other content issues. You'll need strong software engineering skills, data analysis experience, and a passion for solving complex problems at scale.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in CS or related field
2+ years data analysis experience
2+ years software development experience
2+ years software engineering experience
Develop ContentID systems
Problem-solving & end-to-end ownership

Good to have:

Knowledge of YouTube platform
Excellent collaboration & communication skills

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience in data analysis.
2 years of experience in software development.
2 years of experience in software engineering or related technical field.

Preferred qualifications:

Knowledge of and passion for YouTube platform and ecosystem.
Excellent collaboration and organizational skills.
Excellent communication, people, teamwork, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Develop systems that build on our powerful video content matching system to provide YouTube’s media partners and individual creators with the control over their content and personal attributes used in YouTube videos that they demand (and in many cases are required by law).
Help solve problems (e.g., develop a tool to show partners within minutes of upload fake videos that concern them) and end-to-end ownership of ambiguous problems (e.g., how do we reduce the number of claims we send to partners to review without impacting precision?, how can we use historic claim behaviour between a partner and channel to make better claiming decisions?).
