Job Description

As a Software Engineer at Microsoft, you will contribute to the planning, design, development, and testing of software systems and applications for enhancements and new products. This involves creating software, tools, and code for design, infrastructure, technology platforms, and commercial/end-user applications. You'll utilize current programming languages and technologies, perform testing and debugging, and document deployment and maintenance procedures. Responsibilities include working with stakeholders to determine user requirements, developing design documents, implementing code, breaking down work items into tasks, and acting as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for monitoring system health and resolving simple issues. You'll also review current developments and proactively seek new knowledge to improve product performance and consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

As a Software Engineer, you will help plan, design, develop and test software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products which may be used in local, networked, cloud-based, or Internet-related computer programs. This opportunity will allow you to develop software, tools and code to be used in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms as well as commercial or end-user applications. You will use current programming language and technologies to write code, perform testing and debug any issues with robust documentation, procedures for deployment and processes for maintenance.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • You must be legally authorised to work in Romania to be eligible for this role (Legallly authorised= has citizenship or has been granted a valid visa or work permit).

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript OR Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • experience with cloud environment

Responsibilities

  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
  • Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight.
  • With guidance, learns to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.
  • Assists and learns about breaking down work items into tasks and provides estimation.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.
  • Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
