We are looking for a Senior Technical VFX Artist for our next big game!

THE JOB

As a Senior Technical VFX Artist at Housemarque, you will participate in the development of our proprietary VFX toolset for Unreal Engine and help us develop our unique flavor of visual effects even further. You will work closely with VFX tech and art teams to ensure technical proficiency and artistic quality of different VFX systems in our next project.

Our VFX team is a compact and laid back group of seasoned industry professionals. We're looking for someone to help us push the quality of our tech and art.

How do we work as a Team and what is important to us?

Can we do it with particles? VFX Learnings from ‘Returnal’

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Develop particle systems and simulations that can be used by VFX Artists to produce VFX content in to the game using our proprietary particle system

  • Work closely with Art and Design team to ensure that the effects serve gameplay and are in line with art direction

  • Participate in development of new VFX tech by suggesting new features and testing tech prototypes

  • Produce effects from concept to game

What will help you to be successful in this role?

  • Experience in a scriptable particle system (Popcorn FX, Niagara, others)

  • Experience in Houdini: understanding how to work with volumes and point clouds, and making HDAs

  • Experience in Unreal Engine

  • Experience in shading languages such as HLSL

  • Experience in scripting languages such as Python

  • Solid understanding of vector and matrix operations related to working with shaders

  • Experience in shipping at least one commercial video game project

  • An eye for photorealism, strong sense of aesthetics, attention to detail, and natural curiosity

  • Passion for VFX and video games
