PrizePicks seeks a Senior Technical Product Manager to lead the Platform Product Team. Responsibilities include defining the strategic roadmap for core services and infrastructure, aligning platform initiatives with company goals, driving innovation in platform technologies, overseeing backend service development and maintenance, and managing end-to-end projects. Cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, design, data, and marketing teams is crucial. The role also encompasses operational excellence, security and compliance, team leadership and mentorship, budget management, KPI definition and tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Must have:
  • 7+ years end-to-end project management experience

PrizePicks, the leading DFS platform known for accessibility and a thriving community, is seeking a rockstar Senior Technical Product Manager to be an integral part of our Platform Product Team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sports, technology, and have a product-related background.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic Technical Leadership:
    • Define and communicate the strategic vision and roadmap for core shared services and infrastructure.
    • Align platform initiatives with the overall company goals and product strategy.
  • Technical Product & Project Management:
    • Drive innovation in platform technologies, ensuring scalability and reliability.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of essential backend services, APIs, and infrastructure.
    • End-to-end project management with a product mindset, utilizing modern engineering methodologies and tools
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with product teams, engineering, design, data, and marketing to ensure platform services meet their needs across multiple game types.
    • Facilitate clear communication and alignment on priorities and timelines across teams.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Ensure the platform's high availability, reliability, and performance.
    • Implement and oversee rigorous testing and quality assurance processes.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Develop and enforce security policies and practices to protect data and systems.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
      • Build a team of your own as needed
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation within the team.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage the platform budget, optimizing resource allocation to meet strategic goals.
  • Metrics and Reporting:
    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of platform services.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of platform projects and initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Continuously evaluate and improve platform processes, tools, and practices.
    • Establish mechanisms for gathering feedback from internal and external users to drive improvements.

What you have:

  • Experience: 
    • 7+ years of experience with end-to-end project management with a product mindset, utilizing modern engineering methodologies and tools
  • Leadership: 
    • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives.
    • Able to drive the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure platform architecture.
  • Technical Expertise: 
    • Strong understanding of backend services, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and data management.
    • Capable of evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies and tools to support platform growth and performance with technical teams.
    • Collaborate with cloud architects and infrastructure engineers to optimize resource utilization and cost-efficiency.
    • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (GCP) and infrastructure components.
    • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and monitoring
  • Security and Compliance: 
    • Experience with implementing security measures and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Analytical Skills: 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data insights to inform product decisions and optimize platform performance.
  • Communication: 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Education: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
    • A focus on continuous improvement and learning both formally and informally

Where you’ll live:

  • Anywhere in the US is fine but Atlanta would be preferred.
