Job Description

As a Senior Safety Professional - Ergonomics, you will be a key resource driving the identification, assessment, analysis, and resolution of safety and ergonomic issues across various Disney Parks and Resorts businesses. Responsibilities include implementing safety and ergonomic programs, conducting job task analyses, analyzing injury data, developing mitigation strategies, and participating in incident investigations. You will collaborate with various teams and levels of leadership, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement of safety and ergonomics performance.
Must have:
  • 5+ years industrial safety and ergonomics experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and best practices
  • Experience in ergonomic issue assessment and resolution
  • Strategic thinking, prioritization, and task initiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good to have:
  • Experience in entertainment/hospitality
  • ASP or CSP designation
  • CPE certification
  • Bi-lingual language skills
  • Advanced degree in Ergonomics or Human Factors Engineering

  • As a Senior Safety Professional, you will be an important resource. You will drive the identification, assessment, analysis, and solving of a broad spectrum of safety and ergonomic issues across a diverse group of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts businesses.

The Senior Safety Professional will report to a Manager of Safety

What You Will Do

On any given day, as a Senior Safety Professional, you might:

  • You will work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Drive the implementation of safety and ergonomic programs, performing job task analysis, facility, and design/modifications, analyzing injury and illness trend data, evaluating safety performance, and finding opportunities to improve safety and ergonomics performance.
  • Lead the development and implementation of ergonomic strategies and tactics
  • Participate in ergonomic-related incident investigations and follow-ups
  • Improve performance, review source material (rules, codes, laws, and standards) identify and share industry practices
  • Ensure implementation of applicable safety standards and established regulations
  • Manage relationships and work as part of a team within a matrix environment with all levels of leadership and employees
  • Analyze ergonomic injury and illness data, prepare presentations on trends and mitigation plans, and then share them with your peers/leaders
  • Serve as the Safety & Health Duty Manager on a rotational basis

Required Qualifications & Skills

Here’s what you need to be successful at this job:

  • 5+ years of industrial safety and ergonomics experience in a related industry such as maintenance, manufacturing, hospitality, entertainment/theatrical, transportation, distribution/warehouse
  • Knowledge and hands-on application in regulatory standards, best-practices and guidelines, such as ergonomics, incident investigation, and root-cause analysis
  • Experience with strategic thinking, prioritization, and initiation of tasks
  • Experience with proper writing, speaking, and presenting to all levels of employee
  • Resolve conflicts and diffuse difficult situations
  • Experience with assessing, analyzing, identifying, and solving ergonomic issues across a diverse group of Disney Parks and Resorts businesses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the entertainment/hospitality industry
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation
  • Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE)
  • Bi-lingual language skills

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and/or health, industrial hygiene, life science, physical science or engineering
  • Advanced degree in Ergonomics or Human Factors Engineering

The hiring range for this position in California is $103,500.00-$138,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
