Come join us as a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Planning & Sustaining Team at Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES) which is a small team of highly trained and skilled engineers responsible for providing engineering oversight for nearly 40 square miles of utility infrastructure serving the Walt Disney Company.
As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide engineering services to support the mechanical portfolio of capital improvement projects, ensuring consistency with department strategy, commitments, and goals. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will act as a point of contact with customers and stakeholders for all subject matter expert related tasks and ensures that the internal team and external partners comply with the overall RCES vision for the mechanical program.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a direct report to the Planning & Sustaining Engineering Team Lead, RCES Engineering & Programs.
This position will be a full-time, in the office position in Orlando, FL.
Reviewing construction plans for new development and expansion of utility infrastructure for conformance with adopted Standards and best practices.
Developing, managing, and updating utility master plans and technical specifications, details and design guidelines.
Coordinating with regulatory agencies on permitting needs.
Supports day-to-day utility operations with engineering expertise on Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities
Reviewing and updating job plans for Preventative Maintenance (PM) work orders.
Identifying opportunities for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of operations while maintaining regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction.
Examining equipment or system challenges to discern root cause and recommending changes to mitigate the chance of recurrence.
Develops the short and long-term Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) programs, including Preparing annual capital improvement project (CIP) budget with preliminary project scopes, cost estimates, and priorities.
Collecting and analyzing data to evaluate system performance and maintaining information on available capacities and required upgrades.
Performing and managing system condition assessments and studies for determining capital improvement needs.
Active registration as a Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
8+ years of applicable education or experience in industrial or utility mechanical system design and implementation.
Demonstrate understanding of key engineering principles and utility operations with experience in two or more of the following areas, Central Energy Plants (CEPs) and campus distribution systems for chilled water, hot water, compressed air and natural gas.
Demonstrated knowledge of construction methods and the ability to interpret design drawings and specifications.
Experience communicating sophisticated issues to non-technical peers and to executives.
Proficient in using AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office.
Ability to work in a variety of work environments, including outdoors and in a plant environment.
Must be available to work outside normal work hours in response to job demand, equipment availability, and system/equipment emergencies as required including in adverse weather events.
Ability to manage workload and balance constantly evolving priorities while maintaining productivity.
Working knowledge in at least one (1) of the following mechanical system analysis software tools:
AFT Arrow (compressible distribution)
AFT Fathom (incompressible distribution)
Carrier HAP (building and plant simulation)
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related degree from an ABET accredited institution is required.
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.
