Avalanche Studios Group is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Data team and drive the Data & Analytics strategy for Contraband, our upcoming AAA co-op open-world game and new IP published by Microsoft Xbox Game Studios!
This role will be responsible for owning and developing analytics strategies and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams. It requires experience from live product environments, strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with our publishing partner, Microsoft. This is a key role that combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership to ensure that Contraband delivers exceptional player experiences and meets its business goals.
What you'll do:
- Develop and implement robust analytics strategies tailored to a live premium AAA game.
- Collaborate with Data, Product, Creative, and Tech teams to align analytics efforts with broader project goals.
- Design and implement advanced data models, pipelines, A/B tests and dashboards to monitor game performance and player behavior.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights that guide game and business decisions.
- Ensure seamless communication and collaboration with Microsoft’s Business, Product, Data, and Tech teams to drive analytics success.
- Promote a culture of data excellence by sharing best practices, mentoring the team, and providing training across the organization.
- Design efficient and scalable analytics processes, conducting regular code and methodology reviews.
Who you are:
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Scientist or a similar role, preferably in gaming or digital entertainment.
- Proven experience leading analytics strategies for live games or similar live product environments, ideally in the premium AA or AAA gaming space.
- Expertise in visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python or R.
- Advanced SQL Skills: Writing complex, optimized SQL queries and understanding query performance tuning.
- Experience collaborating across disciplines (Product, Creative, Tech) and with publishers.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to diverse audiences along with the ability to present technical insights to non-technical stakeholders.
