Job Description
As a Senior Data Engineer at Barracuda, you'll drive technology innovation for engineering projects, focusing on AWS, Data Lake (Databricks/Elastic), and Kubernetes architecture. You'll collaborate with the Technology Architect on the Architecture Review Board. Responsibilities include ingesting, processing, enriching, and distributing large datasets; optimizing systems for cost and impact; instrumenting and orchestrating data pipelines with CI/CD; and implementing pipelines with Machine Learning and Data Enrichment teams to scale MLOps objectives. The role requires expertise in various technologies like Databricks, Snowflake, AWS databases, streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis), Spark, Python, SQL, Scala, and Terraform.
Must have:
- 5+ years of experience in data ingestion and processing
- 2+ years experience in data architecture for SaaS applications
- Strong understanding of distributed computing
- Expertise in Databricks, AWS, and data pipelines
- Proficiency in Spark, Python, SQL
Good to have:
- Experience with Snowflake, Kafka, Kinesis
- Experience with Scala or other high-level languages
- Experience with Terraform or other deployment tools

We currently have an exciting new position open for a Senior Data Engineer. This person will assist in driving technology innovation for engineering projects and work on architecture of AWS, Data Lake (Databricks/Elastic) and Kubernetes. They will also work closely with the Technology Architect to create and drive the Architecture Review Board.
Tech Stack:
- Databricks, Snowflake, or other distributed computing platform
- AWS Cloud Databases: RDS, Opensearch, DynamoDB, etc.
- Streaming Technologies: Kafka, Kinesis, etc.
- Spark, Python, SQL, Scala, or other high-level language at scale (C++, Java)
- Terraform, or other deployment orchestration technology
What you’ll be working on:
- Ingesting, processing, enriching, and distributing very large datasets
- Optimizing systems for a balance of cost and business impact
- Instrumenting and orchestrating data pipelines with the latest CI/CD patterns
- Implementing data pipelines along with our Machine Learning and Data Enrichment teams to enable and scale our Machine Learning Operations objectives
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor Degree or Post Graduate in Computer Science, or relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in an Engineering / Data ingestion and process heavy organization.
- 2+ years of experience as a Data Analysis and Data Design responsible for data architecture of a SaaS application.
- Strong sense of ownership and desire to succeed as a team
- Strong understanding of distributed computing and experience building large data systems
- A high degree of engineering rigor and uncompromising drive for quality
