If the positive answers to the above two questions are appealing to you then the position of an Experienced Senior Audit Associate for work on international EU funded projects (Permanent position in Sofia) may be of interest to you.

As an Experienced Senior Associate at our PwC office in Sofia you will have a key role on international assurance related assignments in respect of EU funded projects, throughout the world. You will be working in a team who is fully dedicated to work for the European Commission and will be involved in a variety of interesting and challenging work at different locations worldwide – both with actual filed trips and working on the projects remotely. This role will provide you with an excellent opportunity to develop your personal and technical skills and exposure to different teams and cultures, master your knowledge in the area of
external audit and assurance assignments and provide you with ongoing practical training.

Responsibilities:

• Acting as a key team member in performing agreed-upon procedures in the form of expenditure verifications and systems audits of EU funded projects, the contracts of the assignments include grants, twinning, service and supply contracts, construction works, delegation and contribution agreements under relevant PRAG and Twinning Manuals;

• Documenting the performed procedures in a dedicated audit tool;

• Being part of an audit team, liaising with the European Commission and its respective Delegations, with the reporting entities and other specialist staff in the practice to provide high quality services;

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with the clients;

• Effectively work in an international environment.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years previous audit experience. Preferably in auditing EU funds – i.e. auditing EU funded projects, participation in audit/verification of EU funded projects. It is expected that this experience is gained in the last 10 years;

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related disciplines;

• Membership in a national or international accounting or auditing body or institution (e.g. ACCA) would be an advantage;

• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, and experience in working in English language;

• Good working knowledge – written and spoken of a second European language (German, Italian, French, Spanish or Portuguese) would be a strong advantage;

• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office;

• Proactiveness and ability to prioritize different tasks;

• Strong analytical skills;

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

• Ability to work in a team and multitasking;

• Flexibility to travel abroad on a monthly basis– mainly in Europe. Valid international passport is required.
