Production Engineers at Meta are hybrid software/systems/infrastructure engineers who ensure that Meta’s services run smoothly and have the capacity for future growth. They are embedded across Meta’s product and infrastructure teams, and are core participants in significant engineering efforts underway in the company.
This role involves owning back-end services, developing front-end services, managing infrastructure components, and handling large-scale deployments of systems like MySQL and Kubernetes. You will be responsible for writing and reviewing code, developing documentation and capacity plans, and debugging complex problems in a live environment. You will also participate in an on-call rotation and serve as an escalation contact for service incidents.
You will collaborate with top engineers in the industry and your work will have a direct impact on billions of users worldwide.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals
- 2+ years of coding experience
- Experience with development languages (Python, C++, Rust, PHP/Hack, Go, Java)
- Experience with software, frameworks and APIs
- Knowledge of common web technologies and/or Internet service architectures
- Experience configuring and running infrastructure level applications (Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL)

Job Details
Production Engineers at Meta are hybrid software/systems/infrastructure engineers who ensure that Meta’s services run smoothly and have the capacity for future growth. They are embedded across Meta’s product and infrastructure teams, and are core participants in significant engineering efforts underway in the company.
Our team is composed of people with varied levels of experience and diverse backgrounds, from new grads to industry experts. Relevant industry experience is important (Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Systems Engineer,, DevOps Engineer, Network Engineer, or similar role), but ultimately less so than your demonstrated abilities and attitude. We sail into uncharted waters every day at Meta in Production Engineering, and we are always learning.
This position is full-time.
Production Engineering Responsibilities
- Own back-end services which handle fleet management, front-end services such as WhatsApp / Instagram / Facebook / Meta Ads, infrastructure components that drive Meta’s advances in AI, core services which are used by every team at Meta, the world’s largest MySQL deployments, networking systems and everything in between
- Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the hardest problems, live, on some of the largest and most complex systems in the world
- Together with your engineering team, you will share an on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for service incidents
- Partner alongside the best engineers in the industry working on the coolest stuff around, the code and systems you work on will be in production and used by billions of people all around the world
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
- 2+ years of experience in UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals
- 2+ years of coding experience
- Experience learning development languages (Python, C++, Rust, PHP/Hack, Go, Java)
- Experience learning software, frameworks and APIs
- Experience with Internet service architecture capacity planning and/or handling needs for urgent capacity augmentation
- Knowledge of common web technologies and/or Internet service architectures (such as LAMP or MEAN stacks, CDN, Load Balancing techniques, etc.)
- Experience configuring and running infrastructure level applications, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL, etc.

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
