Microsoft AI seeks a Growth iOS Engineer to build features for its personalized AI assistant, Copilot. The Growth engineering team focuses on user acquisition, engagement, and retention, collaborating with Product Management, Design, Data Science, and AI Research. Responsibilities include building consumer-grade iOS applications, shipping high-quality code, working with cross-functional teams to implement growth strategies, optimizing onboarding flows, and partnering with data scientists to analyze user behavior. The role requires building applications from scratch, optimizing features for user engagement, and working in a fast-paced environment.
Must have:
  • 4+ years iOS development experience (Swift, Objective-C, Java)

Overview

Microsoft AI is looking for a talented Growth iOS Engineer to help build the next wave of capabilities of our personalized AI assistant, Copilot. We’re looking for someone who will bring an abundance of positive energy, empathy, and kindness to the team every day, in addition to being highly effective. The right candidate enjoys building world-class consumer experiences and products in a fast-paced environment. The Growth engineering team is responsible for user acquisition, engagement, retention, and feature development that drives rapid growth, while collaborating with our Product Management, Design, Data Scientists, and AI Research teams to deliver impactful results. 

   

Our newly formed organization, Microsoft AI (MAI), is dedicated to advancing Copilot and other consumer AI products and research. The team is responsible for Copilot, Bing, Edge, and generative AI research. Come be a part of the team shaping the future personal computing.

By applying to this U.S. Mountain View, CA position, you are required to be local to the San Francisco area and in office 3 days a week.  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience developing mobile applications for iOS platforms with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Swift, Objective-C, Java
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of mobile application architecture, design patterns, and UI/UX principles.  
  • Experience in growth engineering or a growth-oriented role, with demonstrated success in driving key growth metrics such as acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • A data-driven engineer who can provide concrete examples of initiatives you’ve built and shipped, and past growth achievements.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Contributions to open-source projects.  
  • Experience building iOS applications from scratch. 
  • Experience in internationalization and localization, scaling products, applications, and engineering efforts to drive global growth. 
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.   
  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in mobile development and AI.  
  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.   

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

  • Care deeply about building outstanding consumer-grade mobile applications. 
  • Build consumer grade applications for iOS. 
  • Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code.  
  • Work with product managers, data scientists, and marketing to implement strategies that drive user growth, engagement, and retention. This includes optimizing onboarding flows, improving product features, and delivering scalable infrastructure. 
  • Find a path to get things done despite roadblocks to get your work into the hands of users quickly and iteratively.  
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, design-driven, product development cycle.
