Summary

The Manager, Software Engineering - Ads Data Infrastructure and Devops will lead a team in providing a stable AWS platform for data engineering. Responsibilities include team planning, coordination with other infrastructure and data engineering teams, troubleshooting technical and interpersonal issues, mentoring team members, and guiding technical solutions aligning with business needs. The role requires experience in cloud infrastructure, software development (Python, Go, or Scala), big data infrastructure, and leadership. The successful candidate will work on building big data infrastructure in AWS, defining custom deployment pipelines, and troubleshooting performance issues, covering a wide range of tools and supporting the production environment.
Must have:

  • 6+ years software development experience
  • 3+ years big data infrastructure experience
  • 4+ years big data infrastructure leadership
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Good to have:
  • Deep experience with AWS
  • Managing Databricks environments on AWS
  • Managing EKS
  • Managing Spark/Flink on Databricks or Kubernetes/EKS
  • Experience with Apache Kafka/Kinesis
  • Experience with Apache Airflow

Ad Platform Data Infrastructure is responsible for providing a stable platform in AWS for the data engineering teams to build upon. Our activities stretch from building big data infrastructure in AWS, to defining custom deployment pipelines, to troubleshooting performance issues. We cover a wide range of tools and support these as well as the production environment. The individual we are looking for will provide leadership in all of these areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead team planning and coordination within each sprint

  • Coordinate with the other Ad Platform Infrastructure teams

  • Coordinate with Ad Platform Data Engineering to ensure proper prioritization

  • Troubleshoot issues between teams with respect to project initiatives and technical

  • dependencies

  • Troubleshoot issues between members of their team, both interpersonal and technical in

  • nature

  • Mentor team members and participate in their growth as engineers.

  • Guide technical solutions to ensure they align with business needs and timelines

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

  • 6+ years of cloud infrastructure experience

  • 6+ years of software development experience with python, Go or Scala

  • 3+ years of big data infrastructure experience

  • 4+ years of big data infrastructure leadership experience

  • Demonstrable analytical/problem solving skills

  • Great communication, collaboration skills and a strong teamwork ethic with both

  • technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualification:

  • Deep experience with AWS

  • Experience managing Databricks environments on AWS

  • Experience managing EKS

  • Experience managing Spark and/or Flink on Databricks or on Kubernetes/EKS

  • Experience with Apache Kafka and/or Kinesis

  • Experience with Apache Airflow

  • Ad Tech industry experience

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA or New York, NY is between $175,800 – $235,700, Los Angeles, CA is between $167,700 – $224,900 year, in San Francisco is between $183,700 – $246,400. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
