As technology continues to advance rapidly, Netflix Series Animation (NSA) is seeking an in-house Innovation & Technology Manager to keep us on the cutting edge. This person will partner with the NSA Content team, Production team, Artists, and Show Leadership in researching and implementing innovative workflows to speed up and make production more efficient. This is a highly technical role, with heavy communication and leadership skills needed. This role will dissect and improve current production pipelines, as well as implement new AI technology as it becomes available. Working directly with the Netflix Animation Studio (NAS) “Animation Garage Team” (Formerly, FAN) and the Netflix Algos Team to ensure clear communication across NAS, NSA, and Netflix Corporate Leadership, we hope to elevate our “speed to screen” initiative, as well as narrow our focus on exactly what types of new technology NSA is looking to acquire. This role will also require worldwide industry awareness of technological advancements and how those tools are implemented. 

What You’ll Do:

• Work with Studio Leadership (Content and Production) to introduce new pipelines and Gen AI to existing workflows

• Experiment and Implement all new forms of technology that will improve and speed up production workflows

• Heavy collaboration with the CG pipeline Lead on tool innovation and implementation

• Facilitate convos with Content on “what are we solving for?” as we look to enhance AI platforms into production pipelines and development 

• Focus on strategic bets for the AI and new tech needs of Content and Production

• Create machine learning models in production workflows and track their performance

• Work with the NSA Artist Community to share ideas and give context to new tech ideas

• The point person for all new technology, as it relates to Gen AI and pipeline innovation

• Collaborate with showrunners and artists on new technology, both in-house and with outside vendors

What You’ll Need:

• 10+ years of animation production technology experience

• Expertise in 2D and CG production pipelines

• Advanced skills in programming languages such as Python or C++

• Experience with machine learning libraries such as PyTorch

• Strong presence to lead initiatives and command a room 

• Industry-wide knowledge of cutting-edge workflows, programs, and technology

• Expert in Gen AI platforms and innovation across the industry

• Possess strong leadership and presentational skills

• Ability to respectfully engage with creative executives and content creators

• Manage ambiguous situations and think on your feet to solve challenges and problems

• Expert in navigating between multiple high-level teams (Content, Prod, Post, Show Teams, etc.)

• Excellent verbal, written, and e-social communication skills

• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

• Flexibility to travel worldwide when needed

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $160,000 - $360,000.
