The Lead Solution Architect – EA International will lead and act as an EA ambassador to international partners (Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland). Responsibilities include leading the conception, design, development, testing, and implementation of platform components; leading international technical analysis, effort estimation, and product design; designing highly scalable software systems; developing and reviewing architecture plans; acting as a technical liaison; ensuring platform performance; providing production support; defining requirements with international partners; and adjusting work schedule to support multiple time zones. The role requires strong communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills.

Job Summary:

Disney Experiences (DX) - Technology and Digital, a division of the Walt Disney Company, creates world-class immersive digital experiences for premier vacation brands across the globe.  The Experience Access (EA) platform team has responsibility for the capabilities that power the magic behind such products as Lightning Lane (domestic), Disney Premier Access (international), and Disability Access Service (DAS).  This includes inventory management of attractions and experiences, site specific guest eligibility rules, and digital entitlement management for Lightning Lane and DPA.

Perhaps one of the most critical aspects within Experience Access is relationship management with our various partners around the globe.  As such, this role for Lead Solution Architect – EA International is to help lead and act as an EA ambassador to our international partners, to include Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland.  This role is to work closely with the centralized EA delivery teams and be their liaison in the solutioning and delivery needs within the EA platform across the sites.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the conception, design, development, testing, and implementation of our platform components used in Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland.

  • Lead our international efforts within technical analysis, effort estimation, product and system design, and production support.

  • Lead the design and development of highly scalable software systems and applications.

  • Develop and review architecture, platform and infrastructure plans.

  • Lead as a technical liaison to our internal platform teams, and ensure that products are created in a platform-centric manner.

  • Help ensure that the platform is metrics and performance driven.

  • Provide domain assistance to production support teams and help in troubleshooting issues.

  • Work with key international partners to help define requirements (functional and non-functional) and influence solutions.

Additional Key Requirements

  • Ability to adjust work schedule as needed to support multiple time zones, to include meetings and support needs in:

    • Japan Standard Time (JST) on behalf of our efforts in Tokyo Disneyland

    • Hong Kong Time (HKT) on behalf of our efforts in Hong Kong Disneyland

    • Central European Time (CET) on behalf of our efforts in Disneyland Paris.

  • Ability to communicate effectively to leadership in both business and technology roles

  • Ability to foster effective working relationships across our sites.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Communication skills are a must.

  • Excellent presentation and group dynamic skills.

Technical Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressively related experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, high-volume software systems and components.

  • Significant knowledge/experience in

    • Java

    • AWS

    • Docker

    • Spring Boot

    • NoSQL

    • Relational database design

    • JSON messaging

    • Web services

    • Software performance optimization (memory, CPU, scaling, etc...)

  • Experience with cloud-based development, architecture, and monitoring

  • Knowledge of traditional and agile software development lifecycles and methodologies.

  • Experience with the creation and consumption of web services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Domain expertise within the Disney guest experience.

  • Exceptional critical thinking, strategic planning, and relationship management skills

  • Ability to influence and lead efforts to provide overall guidance and structure for delivery endeavors

  • Ability to successfully operate in a highly matrix organizational system where partnership and influence are key drivers of success

Required Education

  • Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
