Lead Software Engineer

We are currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer for a renowned healthcare and medical research organization committed to innovation and excellence. This 12-month contract position offers the flexibility of 100% remote work and is located in Rochester, MN.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the Work Force Experience team by designing, architecting, and supporting critical products that have a direct impact on healthcare and medical research. This is an exciting opportunity to provide technical leadership, drive development initiatives from inception to production, and mentor a team of engineers while ensuring the highest standards of performance and reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Technical Leadership: Guide the team to ensure best practices, coding standards, and SDLC adherence while fostering a culture of continuous improvement
• Drive Application Development: Lead the development of applications and services from inception to production deployment using Agile methodologies
• Design & Deploy on Azure and GCP: Leverage Azure and GCP to create scalable applications with high availability and performance
• Ensure Reliability: Build applications with built-in monitoring, alerting, and logging capabilities to ensure operational excellence
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and support the team’s growth through technical guidance and collaboration

Requirements:

• 8-10 years of experience in software development, with a proven track record of building applications and services from scratch
• Strong experience leading engineering teams and driving full SDLC cycles
• Expertise in designing scalable, high-performance services aligned with business goals
• Hands-on experience with Azure and GCP, including cloud-based architecture, deployments, and monitoring
• In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile development environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization
• Experience using observability tools for logging, monitoring, and alerting
• Healthcare experience is strongly preferred, with Epic knowledge as a plus

Note: To qualify for our benefits package, you must work over 30 hours per week, and the length of assignment must be a minimum of 10 weeks.
