Job Description

Lead Mainframe SME needed for a leading global insurance company. Responsibilities include inventory analysis of mainframe hardware, software, and applications; performance benchmarking and bottleneck identification; cost analysis of licensing and operational expenses; and risk assessment of security and compliance. The project involves base defect removal and ECP (enhancement, compliance, and project) work in a two-month release cycle using an onsite-offshore model. The role requires strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and expertise in Business Insurance domain. Experience with COBOL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and JCL is crucial.

Must have:

8+ years Mainframe exp (COBOL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, JCL)
Good communication skills
Business Insurance domain knowledge
Inventory analysis, performance benchmarking, cost analysis, risk assessment

Project description

Our client is a leading global Insurance with a worldwide presence. It serves the needs of both various end users in different types of Insurance, including:
Commercial Lines System
Auto, Home, ARS, HRIS, e-Home, Foremost

BI( Business Insurance) is one of the programming solutions departments of the client. The application handles the policy processing cycle of FIG commercial insurance business which includes.

ARS:
Combined billing system designed to skill fully streamlined billing structure for different agent channels to minimize cost & seamless user experience. Its mainframe system with DB2 as backend to store data.

Commercial Lines of Business
Automobile, Boiler and Machinery, Commercial Property, Crime, General Liability, Inland Marine, and Workers Compensation, other low volume specialty lines are also processed.

Commercial Business Packages for Selected Industries
Artisan/Contractor, Automobile Trades, Habitational, Restaurants, Real-estate, Retail and Services, and Wholesalers.

The project involves Base (defect removal) and ECP (Enhancement, compliance and project). The work is done in a two month release cycle in an onsite-offshore model.

Responsibilities

Inventory Analysis

Review the mainframe hardware, operating systems, middleware, applications, and tools.

Identify software licenses, versions, and usage metrics.

Map dependencies between applications and systems.

Performance Benchmarking

Analyze current mainframe performance, resource utilization (CPU, memory, I/O), and workload management.

Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and high-cost processes.

Cost Analysis

Assess licensing costs, maintenance fees, and operational expenses.

Evaluate cost-effectiveness of existing software solutions.

Risk Assessment

Review security, compliance, and disaster recovery measures.

Identify risks associated with outdated software or unsupported technologies

Skills

Must have

8 + years of experience in Mainframes (COBOL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, JCL)

Good Communication skills to run the calls by pulling all the required stake holders in the call to resolve the issues when required

Business Insurance Domain Knowledge
