Job Description

Your Mission: 

Position Overview: The purpose of the role is to lead engineering workstreams on the infrastructure with experience interfacing with electrical, mechanical, and civil disciplines by supporting the client in the planning, oversight, supervision, and assessment of the production of the infrastructure design documentation. This will include planning for and supporting integration with internal project stakeholder groups as well as external customer stakeholder groups.

Further tasks will involve:

Lead & Collaborate: Run working groups, meetings, and reviews with Consultants/Contractors.
📄 Document Management: Develop and maintain Clyde Nuclear Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents.
⚙️ Design Changes: Oversee and manage design changes and concessions.
📝 Safety Presentations: Present design substantiations to nuclear safety committees.
🔍 EIMT Schedules: Create and manage Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing schedules and procedures.
📊 Safety Reviews: Produce Periodic Review of Safety reports.
💡 Advisory Role: Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
✔️ Peer Reviews: Conduct Independent Technical/Peer Reviews.
🛠️ Engineering Expertise: Apply general/specialist knowledge in high-risk environments.
🏗️ Design Justification: Produce technical justifications for civil/structural modifications.
📚 Technical Reviews: Assess contractor reports and safety case submissions.
Quality Checks: Review calculations and documents by team members.

 

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

📚 Standards Expertise: Strong knowledge of British & European Standards, design, and defence standards.
⚙️ Systems Knowledge: Proficient in mechanical and electrical systems.
🏗️ Project Experience: Proven skills across concept, detailed design, construction, and commissioning (multi-discipline projects, ideally industrial/maritime).
✍️ Technical Documentation: Experience authoring robust technical justifications for design modifications in high-hazard environments.
🔧 Familiarity with Equipment: Knowledge of industrial plant/machinery (pumps, generators, HVAC, SCADA, PAVA).
🔗 Defence & Maritime: Experience providing engineering input on multi-discipline projects within these sectors.

Desirable:  Work history in similar high-risk environments.
🛡️ Safety Techniques: Familiar with safety case development (e.g., HAZID/HAZOP).
🇬🇧🇺🇸 Nuclear Regulation: Knowledge of UK/US nuclear industry practices and standards.
⚙️ Defence Industry: Experience in designing and assessing safety-related structures/systems.

Qualifications: 🎓 Essential: BEng in S.T.E.M or equivalent; Chartered Engineer (CEng) or similar experience.
📘 Desirable: Safety case training/experience.

Umbrella Contractor or Permanent Staff position

The role would typically be expected to be conducted in a hybrid arrangement from Glasgow City Centre (3 days office, 2 days WfH).

SC required.  Sole UK nationals only

Ability to visit client site in Helensburgh and Abbey wood.
