Job Description

The Labor Relations Intern provides support to the Labor Relations team, assisting with collective bargaining agreements, grievance resolution, and labor-management issues. Responsibilities include assisting with negotiation and arbitration logistics, supporting personnel with grievances and effects bargaining, conducting legal research, gathering confidential information, archiving documents, and supporting projects. The intern will also receive training to assist with administrative functions. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to handle confidential information, and effective communication skills. Understanding of labor and human resources laws (NLRA, Title VII, ADA, ADAAA, ADEA, FMLA) is essential.

What You Will Do

The Labor Relations Intern provides day-to-day and project related support to the Labor Relations team to support site-specific collective bargaining agreements through project work, consultations, grievances, and resolution of labor-management issues. This position may provide administrative support during union contract negotiations, effects bargaining and arbitrations. Our Labor Relation Interns need to understand aspects of labor and human resources-related laws, including the NLRA and Title VII, as well as demonstrate initiative as issues arise related to the ADA, ADAAA, ADEA, FMLA & state/local laws and ordinances. Interns should be available to work on-site.

Responsible for a variety of functions including, but not limited to:

  • Assisting with negotiation and arbitration logistics.

  • Supporting Labor Relations personnel with grievances, effects bargaining and operations initiatives.

  • Conducting legal research to share with internal and external audiences.

  • Gathering confidential information in response to inquiries.

  • Archiving and maintaining documents.

  • Supporting projects and initiatives.

  • Performing other job-related duties as requested.

  • This position will also be trained as a backup to assist with the coverage of administrative functions.

  • High functional knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Display initiative.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Work well under pressure and manage fluctuating priorities.

  • Multitask and be flexible when unexpected issues arise by effectively handling changing situations.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual

  • High functional knowledge of Workday, SharePoint and Zoom

Education

  • Junior or Senior year preferred.

  • Major or previous coursework in Industrial and Labor Relations or related major preferred.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization.

Additional Information

  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

  • Fully available Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week.

  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Orlando, FL area.

  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.

  • Be compliant with appearance guidelines.

  • Limited housing opportunities may be available for Florida Based Professional Interns through American Campus Communities, for more information .

The pay rate for this role in Orlando, FL is $22.00 per hour.
