Job Description

Scopely seeks a Director of Live Operations to lead the launch and management of a new mobile RPG. Responsibilities include defining the Live Ops strategy, building a comprehensive plan, leading a team of managers, designing and executing events to maximize impact, driving tool and feature requirements, collaborating with cross-functional teams (design, development, marketing, etc.), and working closely with the Product Performance team to meet KPIs. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in live-operated games, a strong understanding of mobile KPIs (especially in collection RPGs), and proven leadership skills. This role requires strong communication, strategic thinking, and the ability to work effectively with global teams.

Scopely is looking for a talented and experienced Director of Live Operations to help launch and manage an unannounced mobile RPG title on a remote basis. The candidate will help define & champion the game’s Live Ops vision & strategy, inspiring the game development team to deliver best-in-class features and consumer experiences that are addictive, appealing and inherently social.
In this role, the Director, Live Operations, will work closely with embedded Analysts, PMs, Game Designers, and Live Ops Managers to create outstanding game experiences that optimize franchise retention and monetization metrics. The ideal candidate embraces a team-first mentality, is flexible, highly motivated, and approachable, with excellent communication skills honed by years of experience in the gaming industry. You are the whole package of a self-motivated team player who can think strategically but is also prepared to roll up your sleeves and work with team members around the world
 
What You Will Do
  • Define the Live Operations strategy and events roadmap for an RPG product
  • Build a complete Live Ops plan and drive the vision, prioritization, and execution of the Live Ops strategy for a new game title
  • Lead a team of live ops managers to design and execute events to maximize impact for the business
  • Drive tools & features requirements to improve Live Ops efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Work closely with product and design partners to build and tune content, rewards, and pricing
  • Take a leading role in collaborating with Game Design and other cross-functional teams (including developers, customer relations, quality assurance, art, and analytics) to ensure that engaging new content and events are delivered to the highest quality
  • Work closely with the Product Performance team to drive towards KPIs, collaborating on extensive game performance reviews, split tests, and strategic deep dives
What We’re Looking For
 
  • 10+ years of experience in live-operated games
  • A track record of leading a Live Ops team on market leading products
  • A strong understanding of mobile KPI metrics, preferably on collection RPGs, and how to improve KPIs through Live Ops strategies and new feature roadmaps
  • Ability to provide clear direction & measurable goals to a team of Live Ops Managers. Provides career development and promotes a team-first mentality.
  • Strong communication skills to be able to coordinate effectively with partner teams such as developers, publishing, marketing, user acquisition, customer experience, and QA
  • Self sufficient, resourceful, and can manage operational efficiency with limited resources.
  • Strong Excel / spreadsheet skills
  • A passion for creating fun, compelling and addictive user experiences
For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $175,000 - $217,750, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
