Job Description

Redhorse Corporation seeks a Data Engineer to support the Chief Digital Artificial Intelligence Office's (CDAO) contribution to the DoD's integrated biosurveillance (IB) program. This role involves configuring and ingesting structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data into capabilities meeting mission partner requirements. Responsibilities include maintaining data transfers, automating configuration management, leveraging ETL technologies, optimizing infrastructure, and collaborating with various functional groups to develop innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience with Big Data systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or MilCloud 2.0), multiple coding languages, and a strong understanding of data engineering principles.

Position Description

Redhorse is hiring for a Data Engineer to support the Chief Digital Artificial Intelligence Office’s (CDAO) contribution in the DoD’s integrated biosurvelliance (IB) program. IB is a cornerstone of biodefense, requiring intelligence collection, analytic capabilities, and information sharing. IB is the process of gathering, integrating, interpreting, and communicating essential information related to all-hazard threats (biological, chemical, nuclear terrorist attacks; extreme weather events; naturally occurring emerging infectious diseases) or disease activity affecting human, animal, or plant health to achieve early detection and warning, to contribute to overall situational awareness of the health aspects of an incident, and to enable better decision-making at all levels. This position is part of a team that will leverage Advana’s data, analytics, AI, and automation capabilities in collaboration with ongoing efforts supported by multi-intelligence and multi-domain systems across different organizations.

Job Responsibilities

Support the configuration and ingestion of designated structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data repositories into capabilities that satisfy mission partner requirements and support a data analytics and DevOps pipeline to drive rapid delivery of functionality to the client.
Maintain all operational aspects of data transfers while accounting for the security posture of the underlying infrastructure and the systems and applications that are supported and monitoring the health of the environment through a variety of health tracking capabilities.
Automate configuration management, leverage tools, and stay current on data extract, transfer, and load (ETL) technologies and services.
Work under general guidance, demonstrate an initiative to develop approaches to solutions independently, review architecture, and identify areas for automation, optimization, right-sizing, and cost reduction to support the overall health of the environment.
Apply comprehension of data engineering-specific technologies and services, leverage expertise in databases and a variety of approaches to structuring and retrieving of data, comprehend Cloud architectural constructs, and support the establishment and maintenance of Cloud environments programmatically using vendor consoles.
Engage with multiple functional groups to comprehend client challenges, prototype new ideas and new technologies, help to create solutions to drive the next wave of innovation, and design, implement, schedule, test, and deploy full features and components of solutions.
Identify and implement scalable and efficient coding solutions.

Required Skills/Education

Bachelor’s degree plus 7-10 years’ experience, or a Master’s Degree plus 5 years of experience.
Experience with Big Data systems, ETL processes.
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or MilCloud 2.0.
Experience with multiple coding languages.
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
