Captions is seeking a Creative Tools Product Manager to lead the strategy and execution of their video editing and creative tools. This role requires defining product vision, collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, data science, marketing), and prioritizing features that enhance user experience. Responsibilities include market research, data analysis to inform product decisions, and driving seamless product execution. The ideal candidate possesses 3+ years of product management experience in creative tools or video editing, strong technical skills, and a passion for empowering creators. The position demands a data-driven approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

About the role:

We’re expanding our Product team and looking for a Creative Tools Product Manager to help shape the future of video editing. As a Product Manager at Captions, you’ll own a critical product area, driving the roadmap, strategy, and execution. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact at a fast-paced startup, where your decisions will directly influence our product and user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and Lead Creative Tools Strategy: Shape the vision for Captions' video editing and creative tools, ensuring they empower creators to produce high-quality content effortlessly.

  • Innovate for Creators: Identify and prioritize features that make video editing faster, smarter, and more intuitive, leveraging AI to solve real-world creator challenges.

  • Understand the Video Creation Landscape: Stay deeply informed about video editing trends, creator workflows, and competitive tools to position Captions as a leader in the space.

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with engineering, design, data science, and other cross-functional teams to bring concepts to life.

  • Champion User Creativity: Conduct research to understand how creators use video editing tools and ensure the product enhances their creative process.

  • Drive Seamless Product Execution: Coordinate with marketing, sales, and customer support to launch features that resonate with users and drive adoption.

  • Focus on Rapid Iteration: Build, test, and refine creative tools quickly to keep Captions at the forefront of innovation in video editing.

  • Leverage Data to Enhance Creativity: Analyze product metrics and user feedback to prioritize features that maximize creative potential and user satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of product management or relevant industry experience, ideally in creative tools, video editing, or content creation platforms.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to define product vision and requirements, particularly for tools that empower creators.

  • Proven ability to analyze large-scale, complex datasets and make data-driven product decisions to improve user workflows and satisfaction.

  • Strong technical background, with familiarity in AI, video-related technologies, and product design principles.

  • Skilled in delivering clear, engaging technical presentations and gathering requirements from diverse stakeholders, including creators and business teams.

  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and execution skills, with a track record of shipping innovative features on time.

  • Hands-on experience managing the full product lifecycle, from concept to launch, incorporating user feedback and iterating to achieve product-market fit.

  • Passionate about video editing and empowering creators to produce exceptional content with intuitive tools.

  • Resilient and adaptable to a fast-paced, dynamic environment where creative problem-solving is key.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Design, or a related field; advanced degrees.
