One Of Us is a visual effects studio founded in London in 2004 by co-directors Rachael Penfold, Dominic Parker and Tom Debenham.

One of Us is looking for a CG Supervisor for its London Studio. You will oversee the technical and artistic aspects of computer-generated (CG) elements at One of Us. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with artists, production teams, and clients. We aim to continuously elevate our standards and deliver exceptional visual effects that exceed client expectations. The CG Supervisor ensures that the creative vision is achieved through the successful execution of CG elements while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting project deadlines.

Responsibilities: 

1 Leadership and Management:

    • Manage the day-to-day operations of the CG work on a show, assisting VFX Supervisor & Production with task assignments, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the CG team, flag training needs and performance concerns quickly to HOD’s and crewing.
    • Mentor and help train junior team members to foster skill development and growth within the company.
    • Flag any potential problems or delays to the Show management team / Head of VFX.
    • Drive CG dailies and present work to the VFX Supervisor & Production.

2 Technical Oversight:

    • Understanding our pipeline, checking for consistency between disciplines to foresee any potential problems or bottlenecks and help resolve them quickly.
    • Ensure that all CG elements meet technical specifications and integrate seamlessly with live-action footage or other visual elements.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to overcome challenges.

3 Artistic Direction:

    • Work closely with the Anim/Comp/VFX Supervisor and Production to interpret creative briefs and translate artistic concepts into CG elements.
    • Provide artistic feedback and direction to CG artists to maintain consistency in visual style and quality across shots and sequences.
    • Review and approve final renders to ensure they meet the creative and technical requirements of the project.

4 Quality Control:

  • Conduct regular rounds/dailies to evaluate CG work to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Comp Supervisor/ VFX Supervisor / Producer to address any client feedback or revisions related to CG elements.


5 Pipeline Development:

    • Continuously assess the CG Pipeline collaborating with the Head of VFX & pipeline on workflow improvements.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to incorporate cutting-edge techniques into the CG pipeline.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and inspire a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of computer graphics covering a wide range of disciplines, with strong technical proficiency in software such as Maya, Houdini, and Nuke.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements in a fast-paced production environment.
  • You may be asked to lend your expertise during project development, including the bidding and pitch stages. Your involvement will ensure a clear methodology for the New Projects team or any show team you are involved with.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively on multiple projects simultaneously if needed.
  • Driven to make things better with the humility to admit when something isn’t working, taking the right decision to ensure the team and OOU in general have the best we can offer.

All roles, including hybrid/remote opportunities, at One of Us require candidates to reside in the UK or France, depending on the location of the role, or must be willing to relocate for the duration of the contract. All candidates must disclose if they have an existing Right to Work in the relevant country, or would require sponsorship support, i.e. Visa.

Hours and location

Our core hours are 9.30am to 6.30pm or 10am to 7pm Monday to Friday.

We have a great office in Old Street where you would be based. This is a Hybrid working role and you would be required to work from the office 2 days of the week.
