Summary

This Business Program Management role supports PayPal's German BNPL team in achieving profitable growth. Reporting to the Head of Consumer Credit, you'll manage projects and initiatives for BNPL products (Pay in 30 days and installments). Responsibilities include managing product initiatives, monitoring performance to identify improvements (funnel reviews, UX reviews), partnering with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Analytics teams, and ensuring timely delivery. You will also act as a BNPL team ambassador within the wider Berlin team. Success requires understanding of BNPL in the German market, experience with credit/financial services products, ability to work in a matrixed environment, and fluency in German and English.

Job Description Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Consumer Credit for Germany, this role will support the DE BNPL team to deliver profitable growth by ensuring the effective management and execution of various projects and initiatives for our BNPL set of products.

Job Description:

German BNPL products have been the leading PayPal GPL portfolio since 2023 as our products bring a unique value prop for consumers to enable financial flexibility through more payment options, as well as a tool for merchants to accelerate growth through, through our two products Pay in 30 days and installments. To drive further growth in this category, we need a program manager in the team to help the commercial head to manage these products on the ground. 

The successful candidate will understand the products end-to-end and will have an exceptional skill to coordinate execution of the projects and initiatives plans to enable DE BNPL growth acceleration including product enhancements and changes across various areas of our products. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. The key success in this role will require the ability to partner and network both with local teams (based in Germany) as well as global colleagues (based mostly in the US) and work together with them to develop the right solutions for this product. 
 

Core responsibilities:  

  • Manage product & business initiatives to grow the bnpl products, working with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Analytics, etc.
  • Continuously monitor product performance to identify improvement opportunities, for example, by driving funnel reviews, user experience review at the point of acquisition and throughout servicing, etc.
  • Partner with the Product team to ensure they have insights and clarity from the local team(s) on specifics of the DE market and our BNPL products to ensure best consumers’ and business outcomes from the products growth strategy perspective.
  • Partner with various stakeholders incl. Legal, Compliance, Marketing teams to ensure timely delivery of the initiatives and products, and sophisticated communication.
  • Be an ambassador for the BNPL team within the wider Berlin / Dreilinden team, by helping drive awareness of our team and priorities, key projects, success stories, etc.

Requirements: 

  • Knowledge and passion for the BNPL space in the DE region, including understanding of regulated and non-regulated consumer credit.
  • Experience with credit and/or financial services products in DE in general, and with PayPal’s and competitors BNPL products in particular.
  • Experience working with partner functions such as marketing, finance, product & engineering, credit risk, etc.
  • Ability to get things done in a highly matrixed environment, with multiple stakeholders across several time zones
  • Be action-oriented with a strong and consistent track record of professional accomplishments 
  • Aspiration to operate as a General Manager, routinely deliver commercial results and influence a cross-functional team of peers & senior leaders 
  • Fluent in German and English required.
