Art Lead

We are looking for an Art Lead to reinforce our DayZ team!

As the Art Lead for DayZ, you’ll lead the artistic creation of a deeply engaging and immersive world that captivates players. You won’t just be a pivotal member of the game's development team; you'll also form the nexus between the creative concept and the art team.

Your role will be that of a visionary leader: one who inspires and guides a team of artists to bring concepts to life. You'll harness your team's creativity and shape the game’s artistic direction with their innovative ideas. With your proven talent and recognized expertise, you'll actively contribute to, and oversee, the production of quality visual content that aligns with the game's vision. You will build on present achievements and cooperate with other art teams to bring the best possible value to our players.

Your exceptional presentation skills will enable you to articulate your artistic vision to the brand management team and the public. You'll oversee the visual standards for promotional materials and ensure they reflect the in-game world's essence and consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the producer and the core leadership team (creative, technology, marketing) to establish the game's vision
  • Work closely with artists to establish the game’s artistic tone; explore locations, key moments, emotional contrasts, and characters, and define their visual priorities
  • Compile the art direction bible, which includes mood boards, references, and descriptions
  • Manage and guide the art team throughout the production process
  • Balance artistic elements with technical constraints
  • Provide leadership and constructive feedback to ensure high-quality output
  • Work with various teams at all stages of development
  • Enhance and grow our pool of artistic talent; participate in recruitment efforts
  • Optimize art pipeline efficiency; elevate quality and production processes

Education/Skills

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Art Lead in the video game industry or related fields
  • Strong foundation in art fundamentals, drawing skills, and artistic culture
  • Knowledge of current real-time rendering technologies and ability to lead Engine/Technical Art teams
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and 3D software (e.g. 3DS Max)
  • Highly creative, collaborative, and empathetic approach
  • Excellent skills in problem-solving, organization, communication, interpersonal relations, presentations, and mentorship
  • Ability to work effectively with graphic design teams and other project teams
  • Skilled in presenting ideas, articulating artistic direction, and providing constructive feedback
  • Open to feedback and adaptable to change
  • Willingness to be hands-on in achieving project goals
  • Knowledge of Dayz or Arma is a plus

Benefits

  • 27 days of holidays per year
  • Company profit-sharing plan, benefit program, meal contribution
  • Relocation package
  • All our games for free and more

About The Company

Our story began with our first game, Arma: Cold War Assault, released back in 2001. Developed by just a handful of people, this PC-exclusive title became a massive success. It sold well over a million copies, received numerous industry awards, and was praised by critics and players alike. Since then, we've grown from a ragtag bunch of garage devs to an international family of over 400 professionals – working on major games like Arma 3, DayZ, Ylands, Vigor, and various other projects. Our ambition: to make games that act as platforms for people to explore, create, and connect.
