Apprentice - Software Applications Development

Description -

HP’s Apprenticeship Program is a 15-month commitment, beginning in January 2025 and concluding in spring 2026. Before applying, please ensure you fully understand the role and are prepared for the entire duration of the program. 

Job Summary
• This role is responsible for assisting in business analysis and quality assurance activities in accordance with solution development methodology and supporting projects. The role supports delivery engagements for technology solutions practice and helps troubleshoot issues that arise from translation of requirements. The role assists with tasks and deliverables related to system development life cycle phases for package and custom solutions. The role keeps stakeholders informed of problems, issues, and resolutions and manages their expectations.

Responsibilities
• Participates as a member of development team and performs basic analysis of functional requirements.
• Prepares and conducts unit testing and debugging under supervision, to ensure the quality and functionality of the software.
• Applies growing technical knowledge to maintain a technology area (e.g. Database Administration).
• Creates and maintains technical documentation, including design documents, code comments, and user guides.
• Updates, modifies, and enhances existing software applications to meet changing business needs and fix issues.
• Utilizes version control systems to manage and track code changes.
• Prepares software for deployment and assists with the deployment process.
• Analyzes and solves complex technical problems collaboratively with the team.
• Completes code stubs prepared by senior developers.
• Supports priority projects with direction, maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders and sharing information via standardized reports.

Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 0-2 years of work experience, preferably in computer programming languages, testing tools, or a related field.
