Analytics Lead

Azra Games is recapturing the childhood thrill of storytelling with your entire toy box for modern AAA gaming. We are dedicated to one genre, role-playing games, and led by veteran designer Mark Otero (Zero-to-one director of Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, EA’s most successful mobile game of all time, with $1.5B lifetime revenue). Azra has assembled an expert team with decades of experience building blockbuster games. Our debut release, Code named ‘Project:Legends’, will be Mark’s ninth RPG. And his best. Azra Games believes in harnessing the power of technology, with a focus on generative AI, to radically disrupt & transform game development.

Overview

The Head of Analytics will build and scale the analytics function for our upcoming free-to-play title. This role will define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure player engagement, retention, monetization, and game health. You will collaborate with product managers, live-ops teams, and engineers to create actionable insights that drive both the game's soft launch and full-release strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the analytics strategy to optimize game performance from soft launch to global launch.
  • Establish and track key metrics (KPIs) to monitor player engagement, retention, churn, monetization, and long-term player value.
  • Design and implement experiments (A/B testing) to test new features, events, and monetization strategies.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time insights into game performance.
  • Collaborate with game designers, live-ops, and product managers to influence data-driven decisions that improve the player experience and game profitability.
  • Provide detailed analysis of in-game behavior and player lifecycle, identifying opportunities for improvement and areas for growth.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring data is a central component in decision-making processes.
  • Manage and mentor a team of data analysts and data engineers to deliver high-quality analytics solutions.
  • Ensure the collection and security of data comply with all relevant privacy and legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. An MBA or relevant game industry certifications are a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in analytics, preferably in the gaming or entertainment industry.
  • Proven experience leading analytics for a large-scale free-to-play game, especially during soft launch and global launch phases.
  • Expertise in designing and tracking KPIs related to player retention, engagement, monetization, and game balance.
  • Strong experience with SQL, R, Python, and other data analysis tools.
  • Experience with game telemetry systems and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery).
  • Hands-on experience with A/B testing, multivariate testing, and statistical modeling techniques.
  • Strong ability to clearly communicate complex data findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with live-ops, in-game economy analysis, and gacha mechanics is a major advantage.
  • Leadership experience managing and scaling analytics teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Pluses

  • Experience with mobile game analytics and app store optimization (ASO).
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and predictive modeling for player behavior and churn prediction.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based gaming services or streaming analytics.
  • Understanding of player sentiment analysis using natural language processing (NLP).
  • Hands-on experience with Unity Analytics, Firebase, or a similar platform for tracking in-game events.
  • Familiarity with various game economies, especially those incorporating virtual currencies, microtransactions, or battle passes.
  • Experience working with international teams and understanding of regional gaming preferences and behaviors.
  • Strong knowledge of legal requirements related to data collection and privacy, including GDPR and CCPA compliance.

Base Salary Range: $170,000 - $220,000. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
