About the Infrastructure Engineering Team Our infrastructure team supports the company's fast growth by building and operating hyper-scale datacenters, managing the life cycle of server fleet, providing cloud solutions, and developing various infrastructure services and making sure they are scalable and are reliable. Responsibilities • Grow and lead a team of engineers committed to building and operating platforms and systems that monitor, maintain, upgrade and dispatch workload over our planet-scale server fleet. • Test, evaluate, benchmark, introduce and quality control server hardware in a production environment. • Be both technically hands-on and people manager. Provide technical leadership and guidance to both your team members and your project peers. • Communicate cross-functionally across various teams, organizations and internal and external stakeholders to drive engineering efforts. • Lead the team's innovation efforts, bring in new ideas and technologies. • Oversee the acquisition and development of software systems in organisational units. • Monitor the results and quality of the different software solutions and projects implemented in the organisation. • Oversee the development of Proof-of-Concept/ solutions and provide technical expertise on the development of software and platform features, ensuring that appropriate security and risk factors are considered.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications • At least a Bachelor’s degree in any of these faculties: Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming & Systems Analysis, Science (Computer Studies) • 5+ years experience working with Unix/Linux systems from kernel to shell and beyond • 5+ years experience in one or more programming languages such as Go, Java, C++ and Python. • 3+ years of direct management experience in a technology company or experience as a technical lead and experience in formal project management or business training. Preferred qualifications • Master’s degree (or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related major • Building platforms, automation and tools to manage server fleet, their life cycles and systems running on top. • Building tools and systems that test, troubleshoot and measure the performance of server hardware • Successful experience in establishing product visions, managing roadmaps and product delivery. • Excellent analytical, comprehension, communication, writing, and consultative skills • Experience in a production and hyper-scale environment ByteDance is committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives.
