Job Description

The Social Media Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to increase engagement, brand awareness, and attract prospective students. Responsibilities include content creation (posts, graphics, videos) across multiple platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), community engagement, performance analysis, and collaboration with marketing and student groups. The role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in social media tools, and the ability to manage multiple projects. The ideal candidate will be creative, innovative, and able to handle social media crises professionally. The position focuses on improving admissions, placements, and the college's general reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development:
  • Create and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the college’s goals and objectives, focusing on increasing engagement, brand awareness, and attracting prospective students to our engineering programs.
  • Develop strategies specifically aimed at enhancing Admissions, Placements, and the General Reputation of the college.
  • Content Creation and Management:
  • Develop, curate, and manage compelling content across various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.). This includes writing posts, designing graphics, and creating videos that highlight our engineering programs, research achievements, student success stories, and campus events.
  • Generate content ideas that cater to improving Admissions, Placements, and General Reputation.
  • Create end-to-end material for LinkedIn, YouTube (including YouTube Shorts), Instagram, and the college blog.
  • Leverage AI tools for content creation to enhance productivity and innovation.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Actively engage with students, alumni, faculty, and other stakeholders on social media. Respond to inquiries, comments, and messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work with the student body, production team, and staff to cover and promote events.
  • Analytics and Reporting:
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance using analytics tools. Track key metrics (e.g., engagement rates, follower growth) and adjust strategies as needed to improve results.
  • Work towards KPIs for Social Media and present progress during Weekly Business Reviews.
  • Collaboration:
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing team, faculty members, and student groups to gather content and insights.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to promote events, initiatives, and achievements effectively.
  • Organize content ideas and execution plans to ensure seamless execution.
  • Brand Consistency:
  • Ensure all social media content adheres to the college’s branding guidelines and maintains a consistent voice and tone.
  • Trend Analysis:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices. Implement innovative approaches to keep our social media presence fresh and engaging.
  • Crisis Management:
  • Handle any social media crises or issues with professionalism and in alignment with the college’s communication policies.
  • Content Derivation:
  • Derive engaging and relevant content from event shoots and other sources to keep the social media channels active and informative
  • Ownership and Transparency:
  • Take ownership of social media projects and be transparent with all team members to ensure collaboration and success.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Social Media Manager or similar role, preferably in an educational or academic setting.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their respective audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative thinking with the ability to generate innovative ideas for content and campaigns.
  • Familiarity with SEO, digital marketing, and online engagement strategies is a plus.
