Job Summary:

Responsibilities

  • Lead design projects of medium complexity, i.e., a fully story themed shop, and communicate Show Lighting design concepts
  • Work independently on full lighting reviews, identify and propose show lighting upgrades or obsolescence plans, including scope of work, budgeting and schedule at all resort facilities, familiar with local market.
  • Perform primary interface with electrical engineering disciplines throughout various project phase.  Ensure placement of lighting design on electrical drawings compliance to overall design/ story
  • Monitor the park-wide lighting system on a regular basis in order to ensure peak efficiency and energy usage. Direct or assist in field implementation when required
  • Create and teaches regular class in show lighting, including standards, maintenance and design issues with update training and related materials to keep it relevant
  • Develop and maintain close relationship with global counterparts, internal stakeholders and lighting industry, provide full maintenance and troubleshoot support
  • Responsible for updating documentation as required, including show lighting database, schedules, dimmer panels, and show lighting drawings

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in relevant discipline, i.e. Fine Arts or Theatrical Lighting design
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in related professional environment, and/or minimum 3 years in theme park industry
  • Strong knowledge of parkwide lighting systems, attraction lighting systems and professional and/or WDI drawing standards
  • Strong creative visual sense, familiar with video and projection devices. Can design a simple projection system.
  • Strong working knowledge of theatrical design and technical knowledge of specific discipline, including methods of construction.
  • Good working knowledge of new visual technologies, including but not limited to lighting fixtures, fiber optics, lasers, projectors, UV lights and how it reacts on paints etc.
  • Good knowledge of network, i.e., Ethernet, RS232/485
  • Strong knowledge of CAD or similar electronic design software
  • Candidate with less experience will be considered as Assistant Show Lighting Designer
