Job Description

As a Senior Interaction Designer at Google's Geo team, you'll collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to design intuitive user experiences for products like Google Maps, Earth, and Street View. Responsibilities include crafting user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes, integrating user feedback, advocating for design-centric changes, and leading design projects. You'll work to create accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for over a billion monthly users, contributing to a team focused on solving complex problems and building beautiful product experiences. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, experience designing across multiple platforms, and effective communication of design strategies.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
6+ years in product design or UX
Cross-platform design experience
Wireframing, prototyping, and mockup creation
Collaboration with technical and design teams

Good to have:

Master's degree in related field
Experience in a complex organization
Project leadership experience
Experience with executive leaders
Familiarity with technical constraints

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
6 years of experience in product design or UX.
Experience designing across multiple platforms, and working with technical/design teams to create user flows, wireframes, and building user interface mockups and prototypes.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in product design or UX.
3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization. 2 years of experience leading design projects. 1 year of experience working with executive leaders.
Problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such as desktop and mobile (Android and iOS).
Ability to lead and ideate products from scratch and improve features within a user-centered design process.
Skills in communicating and influencing product design strategy.

The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements, and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.
Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and/or high fidelity prototypes.
Integrate user feedback and business requirements into ongoing product experience updates.
Advocate for the prioritization of design centered changes, refinements, and improvements.
