What You'll Do

Epic Games is searching for a Senior Animator to join our team working on LEGO Fortnite. A successful candidate should have a strong understanding of animation fundamentals and how they relate to game animation, as well as the ability to implement animations in the Unreal Engine. Proficiency in animation blueprints and state machines is a plus.

In this role, you will

• Take animation from the initial concept through implementation in Unreal Engine
• Create character-specific animations in Unreal Engine using our in-house rigs and tools
• Work closely with the individual Epic Art Leads, and artists on the team, to ensure downstream depts have all the information they need
• Ensure animation assets are delivered and shipped successfully and on time
• Drive collaboration across disciplines, including Production, Design, Technical Animation, Technical Design, and implementation to help drive the style and feel of LEGO Fortnite's animation
• Collaborate with leads in a dailies-style critique environment, find optimal solutions, and address basic issues as they arise
• Refine animations and gameplay feel as needed to get the best quality animation within the timeline

What we're looking for

• You have an animation reel showing keyframed character and creature animations
• Strong experience with established 3D animation software and gameplay systems. Unreal Engine is a plus
• Good instincts for realistic and stylized motions
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Familiarity with the Unreal Engine 5 art pipeline
• Related skills, such as modeling, skinning, rigging is a plus
• Experience working with mocap data is a plus
• Experience having shipped at least one title is a plus
