Studio B is a fast-moving, fast-growing creative production company with an audience of 21 million + followers and we create new exciting content every week. We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Production Manager, who is organised, driven and super passionate about helping to make content that will blow our audience away.

We’re looking for a candidate who loves the social space (Youtube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and wants to be a part of a buzzy, vibrant team who are all driven by creating incredible content! We are a collaborative company, so everyone is involved in the brainstorming/idea creation process and we would love to have a like-minded individual join our team and be part of this.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning:

  • Develop and manage production schedules and timelines.
  • Coordinate with various departments (Production, VFX, Editors, Tech and Art Department) to align on project timelines.

Budget Management:

  • Oversee budgets for production projects.
  • Support the Producers in preparing and managing production budgets, ensuring cost control without compromising quality.

Resource Allocation:

  • Manage the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities.
  • Ensure that all necessary materials and equipment are available for the production process.

Team Coordination:

  • Act as the primary liaison between departments to ensure smooth communication.
  • Supervise production staff and coordinate their activities.

Problem Solving:

  • Address and resolve any issues that arise during production, such as scheduling conflicts or resource shortages.
  • Adapt to changes in the production process and maintain workflow efficiency.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure that production meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Review the final output to confirm it aligns with project goals.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all production activities comply with legal and safety regulations.
  • Implement safety protocols to protect the cast and crew.

Reporting:

  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding production progress, challenges, and milestones.
  • Prepare reports summarising production outcomes and budget performance.

Managing Employee Relation

  • Proactively addressing conflicts and fostering a positive work environment through mediation and support.

Monitoring Working Hours & Wellbeing

  • Ensuring that employees' workloads are balanced and encouraging appropriate use of TOIL and breaks.

Managing Holidays and TOIL Requests

  • Overseeing and approving holiday requests, managing time-off balances, and ensuring TOIL is used fairly and efficiently.

Conducting Post-Mortem Meetings

  • Hosting regular debriefs following major projects to discuss what went well, what didn’t, and how the team can improve in future projects.

Regular One-to-One Meetings

  • Conducting individual check-ins with all staff members to understand their needs, career goals, and any concerns they may have.

Monitoring and Managing Insurance Policies

  • Ensuring that all necessary employee insurance policies are in place and up to date including any needed for specific jobs.

Establishing a "Green" Policy

  • Creating and enforcing environmentally friendly policies within Studio B to promote sustainability across the team.

Developing a Professional Development Programme

  • Create opportunities for training, up skilling, and career development to support staff growth.

Ensuring Compliance and Policy Adherence

  • Regularly review company policies to ensure compliance with legal standards and industry regulations.

Skills Required

Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders and new leads.

Organisation: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects and timelines.

Problem-Solving: Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address production challenges.

Technical Proficiency: Understanding of production techniques and technologies specific to the industry.

Time Management: Ability to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Hiring Freelance Crew: Identifying and bringing on board skilled freelance professionals as required for specific projects or to cover workload peaks.

Budget Management: Overseeing and approving budgets for all projects, ensuring financial resources are used efficiently.

Resource Allocation & Scheduling: Effectively allocating team members and resources to projects based on priority and skill sets.

Implementing Organisational Systems: Setting up and maintaining systems for project organisation, such as Google Drive, to streamline workflows and communication.

Job Filtering and Distribution: Reviewing incoming project briefs, assessing their feasibility, and assigning them to producers based on skill set and capacity.

Capacity Assessment: Regularly evaluating the team's capacity to take on new projects, ensuring all necessary resources are in place before committing to timelines (working with HR on this)

Provision of Equipment & Tools: Ensuring all employees have access to the equipment, software, and tools they need to perform their jobs effectively.

Risk Management and Assessing: Identify potential risks in production schedules or resources and implement contingency plans to avoid project delays.


Experience/ Qualifications:

  • 3 years + experience in this role or similar.
  • Strong background in visual effects (VFX) to understand the unique requirements and workflows.
  • Solid experience in budgeting and financial planning for production and post-production projects.
  • Experience working across both production and post-production, with an understanding of the complete project lifecycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in film, media production, business administration is preferred but not essential
