Platform Engineer

We’re currently seeking a Platform Engineer to join the Platform & Cloud Native Engineering team at this renowned video game developer and publisher.

In this role, you will play a key part in developing best practices and implementing security measures for Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) at scale, focusing on low-latency, large-scale systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, working in a fast-paced and ever-evolving industry to drive creativity and innovation.

This is a 7-12 month contract opportunity, located in Santa Monica, CA, with a hybrid work setup.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Platform Engineer, your role will evolve with the needs of the business. The core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop Best Practices & Tooling: Establish and promote best practices for using Azure and Kubernetes across the organization.
• Implement AKS at Scale: Implement and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) to ensure efficient and secure operations at scale.
• Deploy & Maintain Kubernetes Controllers: Take ownership of deploying, maintaining, and improving Kubernetes controllers to optimize platform performance.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work alongside engineers from other teams in design and code reviews, troubleshooting and debugging to solve complex platform issues.
• Lead Key Platform Projects: Manage infrastructure projects that involve collaboration with multiple teams to drive platform improvements.

Key Requirements:

We’re looking for a Platform Engineer who is highly skilled, adaptable, and eager to contribute to the team’s success. Key qualifications include:

• 6+ years of practical Kubernetes experience, particularly in high-volume or critical production environments.
• Experience with Cluster API or other cluster management frameworks.
• Proven experience with the Kubernetes Operator pattern.
• Proficiency in Golang development.
• Expertise in architecting and provisioning services using public cloud services (preferably Azure, though GCP or AWS experience is a plus).
